Five days dedicated to new contemporary music in Milan
The 5 Giornate Festival is a Milanese review dedicated to contemporary and experimental music, founded in 2005. It is mainly held at the Casa Museo Spazio Tadini, at via Niccolò Jommelli 24, in the Città Studi–NoLo district (Municipality 3), an independent cultural space that combines visual art, music, and poetry. Over the years, the festival has established itself as one of the reference events for enthusiasts, scholars, musicians, and composers of new music.
The festival's objective is to offer musicians and composers a prestigious opportunity to perform and present their works, providing the public with a broad and up-to-date snapshot of the state of contemporary music. The review gives space to both established names and young authors, in a dialogue between generations and languages that is one of its distinctive features.
The 2026 edition marks an important milestone: the twentieth edition. Twenty years of activity that have made the 5 Giornate Festival a stronghold of contemporary musical creation in Milan, capable of intertwining concerts, premieres, and in-depth discussions. The festival includes artists in residence and maintains its Call for Scores, the open call for composers under 40 who can thus have their scores performed.
Rooted at Spazio Tadini but also spread to other venues in the city, the 5 Giornate Festival represents one of the freest and most curious voices on the Milanese music scene. It is an opportunity to hear rarely performed works, discover new authors, and experience contemporary music in an intimate and high-quality setting, far from the more commercial circuits.
The 2026 edition of the 5 Giornate Festival is the twentieth and takes place from March 18 to 22, 2026, with its main venue at the Casa Museo Spazio Tadini and events at other city locations.
The review, dedicated to new contemporary and experimental music, features artists in residence for the 2026-2027 biennium and confirms the Call for Scores, the open call for composers under 40. The detailed program, with concerts and premieres, is published on the official website festival5giornate.it.
The precise concert schedule, with times and performers, will be announced by the organizers on the website festival5giornate.it closer to the event.
