About 4 Bridges March

The 4 Bridges March – Decio Beni Memorial is a historic road running race that enlivens Pontile, a hamlet of Fiuminata, in the mountainous hinterland of the Province of Macerata, every first Sunday of August. A national FIDAL event on a course of about 12.5 km between asphalt and dirt roads, along the banks of the Potenza river, it attracts top athletes and running enthusiasts from all over the Marche region. A selective and evocative race, immersed in the unspoiled nature of the Marche Apennines.

A Classic of Marche Running

The 4 Bridges March – Decio Beni Memorial is one of the longest-standing and most beloved running races in the Marche hinterland. It takes place in Pontile, a hamlet of the Municipality of Fiuminata, in the mountainous heart of the Province of Macerata, traditionally on the first Sunday of August. Organized by A.S.D. Marcia dei 4 Ponti, the event is included in the national FIDAL calendar and attracts over two hundred athletes each year, from professionals to amateurs.

The Course Along the Potenza River

The race course measures approximately 12.5 kilometers and winds along the banks of the Potenza river, alternating stretches of asphalt, dirt roads, and uphill climbs that make the race technical and selective. The very name of the march recalls the four bridges that athletes cross along the route, immersed in the unspoiled nature of the Umbrian-Marche Apennines. The famous climb of Pontile represents the decisive point of the race, where victory is often decided. Alongside the competitive race, a non-competitive recreational walk is also offered, open to everyone and suitable for families.

Decio Beni Memorial

The event is dedicated to the memory of Decio Beni, a figure linked to the running tradition and the community of Fiuminata. Over the years, the race has seen top names in Italian athletics compete, including national team members and athletes from military sports groups, testifying to the prestige achieved by this event in such a small and secluded location.

A Celebration for the Village

More than just a race, the 4 Bridges March is a community event: the hamlet of Pontile comes alive with spectators, volunteers, and enthusiasts, with awards, dedicated trophies, and convivial moments. The event is the result of collaboration between the organizing association and the Municipalities of Fiuminata, Pioraco, and Sefro, and represents one of the flagship sporting events of the summer in the upper Potenza valley.

The Territory

Fiuminata is a mountain municipality in the Marche Region, nestled among woods, springs, and ancient villages. The 4 Bridges March offers the perfect opportunity to discover this authentic corner of the Apennines, far from the most beaten tourist routes, where sport, nature, and tradition merge into a single day of celebration.
