The Nebrodi mountain slalom car race, between Floresta and Randazzo
The Santa Domenica Vittoria City Slalom is a speed hill-climb car race, in the slalom specialty, held in the municipality of Santa Domenica Vittoria, in the province of Messina (Sicily). Launched in 2025, the event has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated dates on the Sicilian motorsport calendar, successfully combining a passion for engines with the promotion of a mountain territory still little known to the general public.
The small Nebrodi town, known throughout the island as the "truffle city," sits in a striking and strategic position between Floresta and Randazzo, just a stone's throw from the Etna area. It is this very setting, made of forests, hairpin bends, and views of Mount Etna, that provides the natural backdrop for the competition.
The Santa Domenica Vittoria City Slalom is a trial that awards significant points for various titles: it is valid for the ACI Sport 5th Zone Cup, the Sicilian Slalom Championship, and the Nebrodi Trophy, for which it traditionally serves as the season opener. This triple validity guarantees a high-level starting grid, with the best Sicilian slalom specialists ready to battle for the top spots.
The technical and demanding track is carved out along the roads of the Nebrodi mountains and tests the drivers' precision, experience, and ability to navigate through the cones. Even in its inaugural edition, the course received unanimous praise from the crews, confirming itself as a particularly selective test.
The lineup brings together numerous categories and groups: from the spectacular two-seater and single-seater prototypes of the E2SC and E2SS groups to the cars of the Special Slalom Group, as well as Group A, Group N, and Racing Start. Among the protagonists, drivers in Radical SR4 cars stand out—lightweight, high-powered vehicles that dominate the overall standings in this discipline.
The event is organized by ASD Ucria with the patronage and collaboration of the Municipality of Santa Domenica Vittoria. Beyond the competitive aspect, the slalom represents an important tourist and promotional showcase for the entire Nebrodi district: for one weekend, the mountain village comes alive with professionals, enthusiasts, and curious visitors who take the opportunity to discover the landscape and gastronomic beauties of the area, starting with the famous local truffle.
The second edition of the Santa Domenica Vittoria City Slalom was held over the weekend of May 30-31, 2026: technical and sporting checks on Saturday, May 30, and the race with three timed heats on the morning of Sunday, May 31. There were 56 entrants, with 55 competitors admitted to the competition.
Silvio Fiore, representing Biancavilla (Catania), took the win at the wheel of his Radical SR4 1150: with a best score of 121.52, achieved in the second heat with a time of 2'01"52 without penalties, he repeated his success from the 2025 inaugural edition. The overall podium was completed by Gabriele Di Bartolo (0.24 seconds behind) and Giuseppe Bellini from Falcone, who finished third about four seconds back.
The race, organized by ASD Ucria with the patronage of the Municipality of Santa Domenica Vittoria, officially opened the 2026 Nebrodi Trophy season, also serving as a valid round for the ACI Sport 5th Zone Cup and the Sicilian Slalom Championship.
Santa Domenica Vittoria can be reached by car via the SS120 in the direction of Randazzo-Floresta, in the heart of the Nebrodi Park. The reference airports are Catania-Fontanarossa and Reggio Calabria; the nearest train stations are those of the Circumetnea line and Taormina-Giardini.
The race takes place on roads closed to traffic during the event days. Public access to authorized viewing points is free. For registration and regulations, please refer to the organizer ASD Ucria and the competition bodies (ACI Sport 5th Zone).
