Culture, music, and theatre in the villages of the Nebrodi, in Basicò
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The ZammàrArt Fest is a summer cultural festival that travels through various villages in the Nebrodi hinterland, in the province of Messina, Sicily. Concerts, theatrical performances, and literary presentations bring towns like Montagnareale, Montalbano Elicona, Raccuja, and Basicò to life, with the stated goal of creating a bridge between culture and the local area, and revitalizing the squares, churches, viewpoints, and theatres of the Nebrodi region.
In Basicò, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Messina, the festival events take place in the evocative setting of the Palazzo baronale De Maria, one of the village's historic landmarks. The festival's debut in Basicò was a sell-out success, attracting an audience not only from the village itself but from the entire Tyrrhenian district. All events are free of charge, a choice made to ensure culture is accessible to everyone and to showcase the small Nebrodi village.
The festival is conceived and organized by the APS Banca della Speranza, an association based in Patti presided over by Nicola Calabria, with the artistic direction of Emanuela Segreto. The event is part of a broader project for the cultural and tourist promotion of the Nebrodi villages, aiming to attract visitors and share the identity of these Sicilian inland territories through music, literature, and theatre.
ZammàrArt Fest is not tied to a single town; its travelling nature is central to its identity. Musical tributes to the great Italian singer-songwriters, homages to Sicilian folk traditions, book presentations, and theatre shows make up a programme designed to blend high-quality entertainment with deep local roots. For those visiting the Nebrodi in summer, it is an opportunity to discover villages often off the main tourist circuits, enjoying summer evenings filled with culture and conviviality.
At the moment, the dates and detailed programme for the 2026 edition of the ZammàrArt Fest in Basicò have not yet been made official. Based on previous editions, the festival is expected to take place during the summer, with events dedicated to music, theatre, and book presentations at the Palazzo baronale De Maria, all with free admission. The programme will be announced by the APS Banca della Speranza, the event organizer.
Events in Basicò (98060, Metropolitan City of Messina) are held at the Palazzo baronale De Maria, in the heart of the village. The festival also visits other Nebrodi municipalities (Montagnareale, Montalbano Elicona, Raccuja).
Basicò can be reached by car from the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina (A20 Messina-Palermo motorway exits near Falcone-Patti, then local roads leading into the Nebrodi hinterland). The nearest train station is on the Tyrrhenian line.
Admission to all events is free.
The festival is organized by the APS Banca della Speranza (Patti). We recommend checking the updated dates and programme on the official channels of the association and the Municipality of Basicò.
