About ZammàrArt Fest

ZammàrArt Fest is a summer festival bringing concerts, theatre, and book presentations to the villages of the Nebrodi mountains, in the province of Messina. In Basicò, events animate the historic Palazzo baronale De Maria, with free admission to all performances. Conceived and organized by the APS Banca della Speranza under the artistic direction of Emanuela Segreto, the festival aims to bridge culture and the local territory, breathing new life into the squares, churches, and historic sites of the Nebrodi hinterland.

ZammàrArt Fest: Culture returns to the Nebrodi villages

The ZammàrArt Fest is a summer cultural festival that travels through various villages in the Nebrodi hinterland, in the province of Messina, Sicily. Concerts, theatrical performances, and literary presentations bring towns like Montagnareale, Montalbano Elicona, Raccuja, and Basicò to life, with the stated goal of building a bridge between culture and the local area, breathing new life into the squares, churches, viewpoints, and theaters of the Nebrodi region.

Events in Basicò

In Basicò, a small municipality in the Metropolitan City of Messina, the festival's events take place in the evocative setting of the De Maria Baronial Palace, one of the village's historic landmarks. The festival's debut in Basicò was a sold-out success, drawing audiences not only from the town itself but from the entire Tyrrhenian district. Most of the events offer free admission, a choice made to ensure culture is accessible to everyone and to showcase this small Nebrodi village.

Organizers

The festival is conceived and organized by the APS Banca della Speranza, an association based in Patti presided over by Nicola Calabria, with artistic direction by Emanuela Segreto. The event is part of a broader project for the cultural and tourist promotion of the Nebrodi villages, aiming to attract visitors and share the identity of these inland Sicilian territories through music, literature, and theater.

A traveling festival among the villages

The ZammàrArt Fest is not tied to a single town; its traveling nature is part of its identity. Musical tributes to great Italian singer-songwriters, homages to Sicilian folk traditions, book presentations, and theatrical shows make up a program designed to weave quality entertainment with deep local roots. For those visiting the Nebrodi in summer, it is a chance to discover villages often off the main tourist circuits, enjoying summer evenings filled with culture and conviviality.

ZammàrArt Fest — edition 2026

ZammàrArt Fest 2026 – 4th Edition. Music, literature, and theater return to the Baglio of the Palazzo Baronale De Maria in Basicò, featuring nationally and internationally acclaimed artists: Carlo Butera, Pietro Adragna, Francesco Nicolosi, and Paolo Vivaldi. Three events will take place between July 18 and September 6, 2026, with free admission for the first two and a 10-euro ticket for the final concert on September 6.

In the heart of the Nebrodi mountains, Basicò hosts the fourth edition of the ZammàrArt Fest, a festival that has evolved into a cultural laboratory capable of uniting community, memory, and vision. Promoted by the APS Banca della Speranza in collaboration with the Municipality of Basicò, the festival takes place in the evocative Baglio of the Palazzo Baronale De Maria, a landmark of the town. Artistic directors Nicola Tindaro Calabria and Emanuela Segreto have curated a program that weaves together music, imagery, and storytelling.

The festival kicks off on July 18 with the video documentary "Basicò. Roots and Future", followed by a concert by the Trio Manouche – Carlo Butera Trio, a tribute to Django Reinhardt. Sicilian guitarist Carlo Butera, who trained in both Italy and France, leads a trio featuring two gypsy guitars and a double bass, delivering an elegant and virtuosic performance. Free admission.

On August 3, the stage welcomes Pietro Adragna & Francesco Nicolosi: Adragna, a four-time world accordion champion, performs alongside internationally renowned pianist Nicolosi, former artistic director of the Bellini Festival. Free admission.

The festival concludes on September 6 with Paolo Vivaldi and his show "The Sound of the Image", dedicated to the music of Morricone, Rota, Bacalov, and Sakamoto. The Maestro will be on piano, accompanied by bassoonist Antonino Cicero. Admission is 10 euros; tickets are available at bancadellasperanza.it and organizzatori.18tickets.it.
