Summer masterclasses and concerts at Palazzo Rospigliosi, just outside Rome
The Zagarolo Music Festival launches in the summer of 2026 as a new event dedicated to advanced musical training and live performance. For over two months, from June 23 to September 6, the village of Zagarolo โ located about thirty minutes from Rome Termini and Ciampino Airport โ transforms into a widespread musical campus, where masterclasses alternate with concerts, improvisations, and tastings among the palaces and streets of the historic center.
The first edition is organized by A.Gi.Mus. Roma Est together with the Circolo Culturale Lya De Barberiis, with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Lazio Region, and the Municipality of Zagarolo, and with the support of the Fondazione Banca Centro Lazio. Artistic direction is entrusted to pianist Massimiliano Negri. The project aims to make the festival a recurring appointment in the Lazio musical summer, offering young musicians an immersive study period alongside renowned teachers.
At the heart of the festival are masterclasses in singing, chamber music, violin, flute, guitar, accordion, and piano, held by professors from major Italian conservatories and important concert institutions. Among the names announced for 2026 are Chiara Chialli, Roberto Galletto, Liliana Bernardi, Elisa Cozzini, Leonardo Gallucci, Riccardo Taddei, and Antonella Ceravolo. The courses offer young talents the opportunity to refine their instrumental technique and interpretation, with the chance to perform in public at the end of the program.
Alongside the educational aspect, the festival enlivens Zagarolo with a calendar of concerts and musical moments involving students and masters, alternating with improvisations and tastings of local products. The main setting is the imposing Palazzo Rospigliosi, a historic residence and symbol of the town, which lends its halls and monumental spaces to chamber music and recitals.
The festival is also an invitation to discover Zagarolo, a village of medieval origin nestled on a tuff spur at an altitude of 310 meters, in the territory of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital. The Municipality of Zagarolo, in the heart of the Prenestina area of Lazio, boasts a historic center rich in Baroque churches, portals, and noble palaces, as well as a food and wine tradition that is alive all year round. The mild climate of the Prenestini hills makes the Zagarolo summer particularly suitable for studying and listening to music outdoors.
Registration for masterclasses and information on the concert calendar are managed by the festival's organizational secretariat and artistic direction. The detailed schedule of events is communicated by the organizers throughout the season.
