The XRenga Bike Tour: Cycling through the beech forests of Marsica

The XRenga Bike Tour is a summer highlight for cycling and mountain bike enthusiasts, held in Capistrello, a town in the province of L'Aquila located in the Marsica region of Abruzzo. The event's headquarters is the Renga Plateau, a spectacular high-altitude plain surrounded by woods that provides the perfect setting for a day of riding immersed in nature.

Two routes for every skill level

The XRenga format is designed to welcome both seasoned cyclists and families or casual riders. Two distinct tracks are available:

• FULL Route: approximately 40 kilometers with 1,200 meters of elevation gain, reserved for those seeking a more demanding challenge;
• EASY Route: approximately 20 kilometers with 800 meters of elevation gain, more accessible and perfect for those who want to enjoy the scenery.

The routes wind through the majestic beech forest—part of the ancient European beech forest heritage—and the evocative Piana delle Dogane, offering participants breathtaking views across the Marsica landscape.

Sport, territory, and community

The event is organized by the Sci Club Capistrello with the patronage of the Municipality of Capistrello and the CSI (Italian Sports Center), L'Aquila provincial committee. The XRenga Bike Tour is an official stage of the CiclOtour Abruzzo Experience, a regional circuit that brings cycling tourism to the most picturesque villages and natural settings in Abruzzo, promoting the region through sport.

More than just a ride

The day doesn't end with the cycling: upon returning, participants gather for the traditional pasta party, accompanied by music and entertainment, in a festive and convivial atmosphere that makes the XRenga much more than just a race. It is a fantastic opportunity to discover the authentic side of Capistrello and the Marsica region, characterized by warm hospitality, local flavors, and a passion for cycling.
