Wine, local flavours and floral installations in the Castello district of Bolsena
Every year, the Castello district of Bolsena, one of the most charming corners of the Viterbo Tuscia area, transforms into a grand experiential path dedicated to wine and beauty. Wine & Flowers is the food and wine festival that, for three evenings, invites residents and visitors to stroll through medieval alleys, panoramic squares and glimpses of the lake, in a continuous dialogue between historical architecture, the scent of flowers and the aromas of wine. The initiative is promoted by Voltumna Eventi in collaboration with the Municipality of Bolsena and the local Pro Loco.
The ancient heart of the town, the Castello district, develops at the foot of the Rocca Monaldeschi della Cervara, in a maze of narrow streets and small squares that tell centuries of history. The Wine & Flowers route winds along via de' Medici, via degli Adami and the Castello squares, enlivening the spaces with tasting stalls, floral arrangements and artistic installations designed to enhance the beauty of the locations and the identity of the district.
The absolute stars are the selected wineries from the Tuscia region and other Italian areas, present along the route with their local wines. Visitors can meet the producers, learn about labels and grape varieties, and taste the best of local oenology, glass in hand. Alongside the tastings, there are seminars and masterclasses dedicated to wine culture and food pairings.
The wine is accompanied by a large food area featuring typical products from the Tuscia region: tastings, finger food and local specialities that complete the experience. Past editions have also featured musical notes, with roving performances through the alleys, and the participation of the district's historic venues, open until late in the evening.
Beyond the festival, Wine & Flowers was born with a precise goal: to promote the food and wine excellence of the territory and enhance the historical and landscape heritage of Bolsena. An experience that combines culture, taste and atmosphere, capable of telling the story of the village through its places, traditions and quality products.
Overlooking the volcanic lake of the same name, the largest in Europe, Bolsena is one of the most evocative villages in the province of Viterbo, in northern Lazio. A city with a tradition of the Eucharistic Miracle and rich in Etruscan and medieval history, it offers those who attend Wine & Flowers not only wine and flavours, but also the chance to discover a fascinating historic centre, among churches, squares and views of the lake.
For its third edition, Wine & Flowers returns to the Castello district of Bolsena from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 June 2026. Selected wineries, tastings of local wines, seminars and masterclasses, a large food area and floral installations will enliven the alleys and squares of the medieval village overlooking the lake for three evenings.
