A food and wine walk around Lake Comabbio
Walking and Eating is a traveling food and wine event that combines the pleasure of walking outdoors with the discovery of local flavors and stories. The setting for the day is Lake Comabbio, a small body of water in the province of Varese, traversed along a circular route that touches the lakeside towns.
The walk starts from Parco Berrini in Ternate and unfolds with gastronomic and cultural stops: breakfast in Comabbio with the story of the ice house, a break in Mercallo with the history of the kiln, an aperitif in Corgeno at the Canottieri club, a stop in Varano Borghi to discover the story of the giant bench. The final lunch concludes the day back in Ternate, with activities for children.
The event stems from the collaboration of the Pro Loco associations of Ternate, Comabbio, Mercallo, Vergiate, and Varano Borghi, with the patronage of their respective municipalities: an example of shared promotion of the Lake Comabbio territory, encompassing landscape, gastronomy, and local memory. A formula that has immediately met with great success, with places selling out quickly.
The second edition of Walking and Eating takes place in May 2026 around Lake Comabbio. Initially scheduled for May 10th, the event has been postponed to May 17th. The start is from Parco Berrini in Ternate, with staggered start times between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM.
The circular route includes gastronomic and cultural stops: breakfast in Comabbio with the story of the ice house, a break in Mercallo with the history of the kiln, an aperitif in Corgeno at the Canottieri club, a stop in Varano Borghi for the story of the giant bench, and a final lunch in Ternate with activities for children.
Start and finish at Parco Berrini in Ternate (VA), with a circular route around Lake Comabbio, passing through Comabbio, Mercallo, Corgeno, and Varano Borghi.
Lake Comabbio is located in the province of Varese, reachable by car from the A8/A26 highway and by train via the local stations.
The event is ticketed (approximately 20 euros for adults and 10 euros for children, based on previous editions) with registration required: places sell out quickly.
