Three nights of beer, food, and live music at the Mercatino dei Sapori area in Buccino
The Volcei Beer Fest brings three days dedicated to beer, conviviality, and live music to Buccino, in the province of Salerno. The 2026 edition took place from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19 in the Mercatino dei Sapori area, the space the municipal administration reserves for the summer season's food and wine events. The formula is the tried-and-tested one of Southern Italy's beer festivals: draft beer stands, outdoor tables, simple dishes to share, and a stage that features a different performer each night.
The event's name pays homage to Volcei, the ancient Roman city upon whose ruins the village of Buccino was built: a way to connect a popular, youthful festival to the town's historical identity and to bring evening life to an inland Campanian center that doubles its population in summer thanks to returning emigrants and passing visitors.
The lineup announced by the Municipality of Buccino featured four live acts, spread across the nights of the event:
A choice that reflects the taste of Campanian summer festivals, where live music remains the true glue of the evening: you eat and drink while sitting at the tables, then move in front of the stage when the concert gets into full swing. The open-air Mercatino dei Sapori area allows you to follow the shows without giving up a stroll among the stands.
The Volcei Beer Fest is not an isolated event: it is part of the official Estate a Buccino program, which alternates religious festivals, concerts, cinema, and food fairs between June and August. In the weeks surrounding the beer festival, the calendar notably offers:
Those arriving in Buccino in mid-July will find a town already in a festive mood, with multiple events concentrated in just a few days.
Buccino has just over four thousand inhabitants and stands at an altitude of 663 meters, in a panoramic position between the Tanagro valley and the upper Sele, at the eastern end of the province of Salerno, in Campania, a stone's throw from the border with Basilicata. The historic center preserves a Norman-origin castle and a partially underground path that connects the main monuments; the Urban Archaeological Park of ancient Volcei, open to the public since 2003, showcases mosaics, sacred areas, and structures of the Roman city.
In the Marcello Gigante National Archaeological Museum of Volcei, which houses artifacts from prehistory to the late Roman era, the exhibition 'Invisible Architectures' by painter Valentina Tebekova was hosted during the festival days: a pairing that allows you to combine an evening outdoors with a cultural visit in the afternoon.
The Volcei Beer Fest is a local, informal event accessible to everyone: you go for the beer and the concert, but you end up discovering an inland Salernitan village that is more vibrant in summer than you might expect. It is also an excellent base for exploring the area, between the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park to the south and the towns of the upper Sele valley to the north.
The Volcei Beer Fest 2026 occupied the Mercatino dei Sapori area of Buccino for three nights, with draft beer stands, outdoor tables, and a stage dedicated to live music.
The event was included in the official Estate a Buccino program presented by the municipal administration, which for 2026 aligned patronal feasts, concerts, and food festivals from mid-June to August 30. During the same days, the Marcello Gigante National Archaeological Museum of Volcei hosted the 'Invisible Architectures' exhibition by painter Valentina Tebekova, offering visitors an extra reason to arrive in the afternoon.
Immediately after the beer festival, the calendar continued with the Sagra della Percoca from July 24 to 26 in the Sant'Antonio area, confirming mid-July as one of the busiest moments of the Buccino summer.
Three evenings with draft beer, food, and open-air concerts. Artists announced by the Municipality of Buccino for the 2026 edition:
Start times for the individual evenings were not released in the official program.
The Mercatino dei Sapori area is located in Buccino (ZIP code 84021), in the province of Salerno. The historic center, the castle, and the National Archaeological Museum of Volcei can be reached on foot in a few minutes.
By car: from the A2 del Mediterraneo motorway, continue on the RA5 'Sicignano-Potenza' motorway junction, take the Buccino exit, then follow the signs for the center. It takes about an hour from Salerno and slightly less from Potenza.
By public transport: evening connections in the inland areas are limited, so the car remains the most convenient solution for those arriving from outside.
The event is part of the Municipality of Buccino's summer calendar. No official information on any entrance fees has been released: for confirmation, it is best to contact the Municipality at +39 0828 951008 or consult the official website.
At an altitude of 663 meters, July evenings can be cool: a light sweatshirt is useful. It is advisable to arrive early to find a seat at the tables and, in the afternoon, combine the visit with the archaeological park and the city museum.
