The village festival at Parco Bonvicini, in the Viadagola hamlet of Granarolo dell'Emilia
The Viadagola Festival is one of the most cherished events of the summer in the plain east of Bologna. It takes place in the hamlet of Viadagola, part of the Municipality of Granarolo dell'Emilia in the province of Bologna, within the green Parco Clemente Bonvicini, the large meadow opening next to the parish church. For four days, usually at the beginning of June, the park transforms into the heart of village life, with stalls, lights, music, and outdoor tables.
The festival's ingredients are simple and unchanged over time: food, music, games, and shows. Every evening, the bar serves classic Emilian dishes, from crescentine to piadine, accompanied by ice cream and drinks. There is also live music to accompany the evenings and invite dancing in the square, in the best tradition of Romagna and Bolognese village festivals.
The Viadagola Festival is designed for families. Throughout the event, the following are set up:
The atmosphere is that of authentic and welcoming parish festivals, where multiple generations gather in the same meadow under the evening lights.
The festival is entirely organized by a committee of volunteers from the Viadagola parish, who take care of the setup, catering, and entertainment each year. It is precisely this community spirit that makes the event a focal point for the residents of Granarolo dell'Emilia and neighboring municipalities in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, in Emilia-Romagna. Admission is free and open to all.
The 45th edition of the Viadagola Festival was held from Friday, June 5 to Monday, June 8, 2026, at Parco Clemente Bonvicini, in the heart of the Viadagola hamlet in Granarolo dell'Emilia (BO).
This year again, the program focused on traditional Emilian cuisine, with the bar serving crescentine, piadine, ice cream, and drinks open daily, alongside music, games, and shows. A play area was set up for the little ones, while the market and the charity raffle with prizes completed the festival's offerings.
The event, with free admission, was curated as always by the committee of volunteers from the Viadagola parish.
