About Flowers and Flavors

For a weekend in late May, Vetralla Flowers and Flavors transforms the Villa Comunale Pietro Canonica into a vast garden of colors, scents, and emotions. Organized by the Verde in Scena association in collaboration with the Municipality of Vetralla, this market exhibition brings together specialist plant nurseries, high-quality crafts, local Tuscia products, and food trucks, alongside children's workshops, marching bands, and guided walks to discover the "enchanted city" in the province of Viterbo.

A garden spread across the heart of Tuscia

For two days during the last weekend of May, the Villa Comunale Pietro Canonica in Vetralla turns into a large open-air garden. Vetralla Flowers and Flavors is a high-quality gardening market exhibition curated by the Verde in Scena association, experts in botanical events throughout Italy, in collaboration with the Municipality of Vetralla (Department of Culture and Tourism), the Pro Loco, and with the support of the Lazio Region and Arsial. The village in the province of Viterbo, nestled along the Via Francigena in the heart of the Lazio Tuscia region, welcomes visitors and plant enthusiasts in a festive atmosphere that coincides with the local patronal feast of the Madonna del Carmelo.

From the roots of "Vetralla in Fiore" to the new format

The event was born in 2025 under the name Vetralla in Fiore, the first edition of the national gardening, craft, and wellness market exhibition held on May 24th and 25th in the same Villa Comunale. Its public success convinced the organizers and the administration to relaunch the event in 2026 with an expanded format and a new name, Vetralla Flowers and Flavors, which explicitly combines the floral and nursery soul with the region's food and wine heritage.

The market exhibition: unusual and rare plants

The heart of the event is the Verde in Scena exhibition, which brings selected nurseries from various Italian regions to Vetralla, featuring botanical collections capable of surprising even the most experienced gardeners:

  • unusual and rare plants from five continents;
  • tropical plants, cacti, succulents, and carnivorous plants;
  • roses, annual and perennial flowering shrubs, and climbers;
  • bonsai, Tillandsia, and kokedama;
  • aromatic herbs, chili peppers, and citrus trees.

Alongside the nurseries, there are stalls featuring high-quality Italian crafts, local businesses, and natural wellness products.

The flavors of Tuscia

The second soul of the festival is culinary: food trucks and gastronomic stands offer specialties from the Viterbo area, with tastings, aperitifs, snacks, lunches, and dinners designed to showcase local products. It is the perfect opportunity to sample the cuisine of Tuscia in one of its most authentic villages.

Bands, walks, and vintage games

The program is enriched by side events involving the whole city: the gathering of marching bands and majorettes led by the "O Pistella" band starting from Piazza Umberto I, creative workshops for children, and the free period-costume walk "Discovering Vetralla, the Enchanted City", which takes visitors through the alleys, churches, and viewpoints of the historic center. For families, there is also AnimArte, an area dedicated to wooden games for all ages, evoking the simple and authentic charm of games from the past.

Why visit

Vetralla Flowers and Flavors is an ideal destination for those who love gardening, quality markets, and the villages of Lazio. Admission is free, dogs on leashes are welcome, and the two-day event is perfect for a day trip from Rome or Viterbo, offering a mix of rare plants, local flavors, and the discovery of one of the most evocative cities on the Via Francigena.

Flowers and Flavors — edition 2026

The second edition of the market exhibition, renamed Vetralla Flowers and Flavors, took place on Saturday, May 30th, and Sunday, May 31st, 2026, at the Villa Comunale Pietro Canonica, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with free admission. It featured rare plant nurseries, crafts, local products, and food trucks, along with a gathering of marching bands and majorettes, children's workshops, the AnimArte play area, and the period-costume walk "Discovering Vetralla, the Enchanted City."

The 2026 edition, the first under the new name Vetralla Flowers and Flavors, brought the Villa Comunale Pietro Canonica to life on May 30th and 31st, coinciding with the celebrations of the Madonna del Carmelo, the patron saint of Vetralla. Throughout the weekend, the Verde in Scena high-quality gardening exhibition offered unusual and rare plants, crafts, and wellness products, accompanied by food and wine stands featuring Tuscia specialties: tastings, aperitifs, snacks, lunches, and dinners.

The side event calendar was rich: on Saturday at 5:00 PM, the gathering of marching bands and majorettes organized by the "O Pistella" band started from Piazza Umberto I, followed by children's workshops at 6:30 PM; on Sunday at 10:30 AM, the free period-costume walk "Discovering Vetralla, the Enchanted City" also departed from Piazza Umberto I. On both days, the AnimArte area offered wooden games for all ages, and postcards dedicated to Vetralla were available. Free admission from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, dogs allowed on a leash.
