About Verona Mountain Film Festival
Verona's Mountains on the Big Screen
The Verona Mountain Film Festival is the mountain cinema event that every year, at the end of May, enlivens the Gran Guardia Auditorium, the elegant building overlooking Piazza Bra, opposite the Arena of Verona. Organized by CAI Verona (Italian Alpine Club) with the artistic direction of the Montagna Italia Association, it is part of the international circuit «Spirit of the Mountain».
Five Evenings of Cinema and Alpine Culture
The festival presents films and documentaries selected from an international pool, with evening screenings that intertwine mountaineering, climbing, and exploration, as well as the major themes of natural spaces and climate change. Alongside the screenings, photography, music, and meetings with mountaineers and explorers enrich the program.
A Festival Accessible to All
Admission is free, confirming the event's educational mission, designed to bring the general public closer to mountain culture. For Verona, a city in the plains but a gateway to the Dolomites and the mountains of the Veronese region, it is an event that tells the fascination and values of mountain exploration.
Verona Mountain Film Festival — edition 2026
From May 25th to 29th, 2026, the Verona Mountain Film Festival celebrated its 10th edition at the Gran Guardia Auditorium. Five evenings of free-admission mountain cinema, with screenings starting at 8:30 PM, dedicated to mountaineering, natural spaces, climate change, and adventure, as part of the international Spirit of the Mountain circuit.

Special Preview Evening
- May 15th, 5:00 PM - screening of the 1910 film On Top of the World by Vittorio Sella (Duke of the Abruzzi's expedition to Karakoram), with live musical accompaniment, at the Sandro Ruffo conference room in Palazzo Pompei
The Five Evenings (May 25-29)
- Gran Guardia Auditorium, 8:30 PM, free admission
- Films and documentaries selected from an international pool, on mountaineering, climbing, exploration, natural spaces, and climate change
- Meetings with mountaineers and explorers, photography, and music
