The Reference Theater of Western Friuli

The Giuseppe Verdi Municipal Theater in Pordenone, on Viale Martelli, is one of the most dynamic and appreciated venues in the Northeast. Its season, running from October to June, presents a broad program divided into four main sections: drama, music, opera, and dance. A schedule that blends tradition and contemporaneity, curated by artistic consultants Claudia Cannella for drama and Alessandro Taverna for music and dance.

High-Profile Drama

The drama program offers innovative reinterpretations of classic and contemporary texts, balancing comedy, drama, and musical theater. The performances are original productions from the most prestigious Italian theaters – from the Piccolo Teatro di Milano to the Teatro di Roma, from the Stabile di Torino to the Stabile del Veneto, from Naples to Genoa – largely programmed in Pordenone as regional exclusives. Alongside the Main Hall, the 'Nuove Scritture' (New Writings) series is dedicated to contemporary languages.

Music, Opera, and Dance

The music section, titled 'Architectures of Feeling,' brings internationally renowned orchestras and soloists to Pordenone, from major European chamber ensembles to cellists from the Berlin Philharmonic. Opera concludes the season with titles from the great operatic repertoire, while dance features Spanish, Italian, and international companies, from flamenco to choreographic reinterpretations of 20th-century masterpieces.
