The grand festival in the historic center featuring live music, street performers, and the start of the summer sales
The Velletri White Night is the annual event that, on the first Saturday of July, kicks off the summer sales season and effectively opens the Velletri Summer program. From 7 PM until late at night, the city's historic center turns into a massive hub of music, shows, shopping, and entertainment: shop windows remain lit, stores welcome customers until late, and the streets fill with thousands of people from across the Castelli Romani area.
The concept is simple and successful: align the major city festival with the first day of the summer sales, so that evening shopping blends with live concerts, DJ sets, street performers, and food stalls. The result is an evening where every corner of the center has something to offer, from musical stages to roving performances, along with food spots and shops open for special hours.
The beating heart of the event is Corso della Repubblica, the backbone of the historic center, but the festivities radiate to all the city's iconic spots:
The White Night is also designed for children: face painting starts as early as 6 PM, while along the route one can find entertainment, cosplayers, and shows dedicated to kids. Admission is free, and the evening is completely open to the public: you only pay for what you consume at stalls or purchase in shops.
The event is promoted by the Department of Tourism and Commerce of the Municipality of Velletri, led by Paolo Felci, together with the Facciamo Centro Committee, which brings together historic center merchants, and the association Velletri - Voci delle Tradizioni, which manages the summer programming. A true team effort between the municipal administration, business owners, and local associations, frequently cited as the key to the event's success.
Velletri is one of the most populous cities in the Castelli Romani, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. An ancient Volscian city, home to viticulture and deep-rooted popular traditions, it offers visitors a historic center rich in churches, civic museums, and underground vistas, as well as renowned wine production. The White Night is the perfect opportunity to discover it in its most vibrant form, with the entire community on the streets: a model of urban celebration that has grown year after year, reaching its sixth edition in 2026 with thousands of attendees.
The 2026 White Night took place on Saturday, July 4, coinciding with the start of the summer sales, involving Corso della Repubblica, Piazza Cairoli, Piazza Mazzini, Piazza Metabo, and the San Martino area. The evening opened at 7:15 PM with New Strings at the start of the Corso, followed by Voice Over, Michele Ranieri Trio, Giampiero Gotti, Mommรฒ, Apres No Beach at Apoteka, Five Red Swing Street Music, and the DJ set by DJ Nansik in Piazza Metabo, leading up to the Buskers Show in Piazza Mazzini between 9:30 PM and midnight.
There was no shortage of face painting from 6 PM, cosplayers and roving performances, the Velletri Underground photo exhibition on Via Luigi Novelli, and a free shuttle from the Ex Amore parking lot. Despite the competition from the Ultimo concert in Tor Vergata, the city recorded thousands of attendees until late at night: a success claimed by councilor Paolo Felci as the result of teamwork between the Municipality, merchants, and associations.
Throughout the evening: cosplayers and roving shows, Velletri Underground photo exhibition on Via Luigi Novelli, food stalls, and shops open until late at night for the summer sales.
By car: from Rome, take the Via Appia (SS7) or the SR Via dei Laghi in about 40 minutes; recommended exit from the GRA towards the Castelli Romani. By train: regional line FL4 Rome Termini - Velletri; the station is a few minutes' walk from the historic center.
For the White Night, a free shuttle service is available from 7:00 PM to 11:30 PM from the Ex Amore parking area, which is open 24/7.
Free event with open access throughout the historic center. Shops open until late at night for the summer sales.
