About Buskers Circus

The Velletri Buskers Circus is a street performer festival organized by the Pro Loco Velitrae in the heart of the Castelli Romani. For two evenings in late June, acrobats, jugglers, stilt walkers, fire performers, clowns, and wandering musicians bring the alleys and squares of Velletri's historic center to life, from Piazza Cairoli to Piazza Mazzini and along Corso della Repubblica. This free, family-friendly event, established in 2025, blends the magic of contemporary circus with the rediscovery of the city.

An open-air circus in the heart of the Castelli Romani

The Velletri Buskers Circus is a street performer festival that, in late June, transforms the historic center of Velletri into a grand stage under the stars. Organized by the Pro Loco Velitrae with the patronage and support of the Municipality of Velletri, the event brings acrobats, jugglers, stilt walkers, fire performers, mimes, clowns, and wandering musicians to the alleys, main streets, and squares of the city, located in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region.

The format: wandering performances across squares and alleys

The strength of the festival lies in its itinerant nature: rather than a single stage, there are numerous stations and scattered performances that invite the public to stroll through the historic center. The shows are concentrated between Piazza Cairoli, Corso della Repubblica, and Piazza Mazzini, with performances continuing from the evening until late at night. Acrobats suspended in the air, fire shows, juggling acts, and live music create dreamy atmospheres designed for families, children, and visitors of all ages.

A young but already deep-rooted history

The first edition took place on July 19, 2025, under the title "Velletri Buskers Festival โ€“ Dreaming through the streets of the center," as part of the activities linked to the Youth Jubilee, receiving great enthusiasm from families and artists alike. In 2026, the event grew and became the Velletri Buskers Circus, with a more pronounced circus identity and artistic direction entrusted to Adriano Bono, founder of The Reggae Circus, who manages the involvement of circus companies and performers.

A weekend of celebration for the whole city

The festival is part of the "Summer with Pro Loco Velitrae" program and takes place concurrently with the historic Beer & Pizza Festival in Piazza Cairoli, which reached its twelfth edition in 2026: a combination of entertainment and gastronomy that attracts hundreds of people and breathes new life into the historic center. During the same weeks, the Velletri summer calendar also features the White Night, music festivals, and cultural walks.

Velletri, gateway to the Castelli Romani

A city of ancient origins nestled on the slopes of Monte Artemisio, Velletri is one of the most history-rich towns in the Castelli Romani: home to wine and centuries-old popular traditions, it preserves a historic center featuring the Torre del Trivio, the Cathedral of San Clemente, and the Civic Museums. The Buskers Circus is also an opportunity to discover the city in an unusual guise, amidst street art, local flavors, and conviviality.
