With the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games enlivening the Lombardy mountains, Sondrio also fully embraces the Olympic spirit. As the leading city of the province, the capital of Valtellina is organizing the Valtellina Winter Events: a rich program of initiatives that transforms Piazza Garibaldi – renamed Piazza Milano Cortina 2026 for the occasion – into the hub of the Olympic celebration.

The Games on the Big Screen

The heart of the event is the giant screen set up in the square, allowing live viewing of the Olympic competitions, from the ski races in Bormio and Livigno to other Olympic disciplines. Every day, the valley's public gathers around the screen in an atmosphere of cheering and sharing, making Sondrio an authentic, widespread Olympic village.

Shows, Music, and Gastronomy

The program alternates between concerts, shows, family workshops, and food stalls dedicated to the flavors of Valtellina. A marquee hosts themed evenings, including a gourmet dinner curated by four renowned chefs celebrating local products. There are also events for children and entertainment throughout the entire Olympic period.

Special Events

Among the calendar's highlights are the Children's Carnival, organized by the local parish community, and an evening dedicated to sport with the participation of Olympic champion Jury Chechi. The program is designed to involve the entire community and showcase Valtellina as a land of sport, hospitality, and tradition during the most important event for the Lombardy mountains. The event is promoted by the Province of Sondrio and APF Valtellina, with the support of the Municipality.
