The Vallinfreda Spring Festival is a community celebration held in the picturesque Le Aie area, a lush plateau just outside the village in the heart of the Lazio Apennines. Established in 2024 and reaching its third edition in 2026, the event is organized by the Pro Loco Vallinfreda in collaboration with local farmers, with the aim of promoting the area's natural heritage and the agropastoral traditions that have always defined this corner of the province of Rome.

Guided mountain hike

The day kicks off in the morning with a guided hike through the surrounding mountains, designed to showcase the local flora, fauna, and the sweeping views of the Apennines. The Vallinfreda territory, which sits at an altitude of over 900 meters, offers scenic trails through woods and pastures, perfect in spring when the wildflowers are in full bloom. The walk is open to everyone and is one of the festival's most popular highlights, offering a chance to experience the landscape alongside those who know and tend to it every day.

Children's Area and herbarium workshop

By mid-morning, the Children's Area opens, offering a space dedicated to the little ones with fun, educational activities in nature. A standout feature is the herbarium creation workshop, where children learn to identify, collect, and catalog local plants: a simple and engaging way to connect new generations with the mountain environment and its treasures.

The farmers' lunch

The convivial heart of the festival is the lunch featuring local meats and produce, prepared using ingredients from Vallinfreda's farmers. The menu includes a first course, burgers or arrosticini, side dishes, and desserts, accompanied by wine and music. Specialties like veal steak and traditional lamb dishes are also available while supplies last. It is the moment when the festival truly reveals its soul: that of a mountain community that still thrives on pastures, livestock, and genuine hospitality.
