Walking against cancer through the villages of Valle Brembana
In San Giovanni Bianco, in Valle Brembana (province of Bergamo), Valle Brembana in Pink is much more than just a walk. "Walking against cancer" is the message accompanying the event, designed to raise awareness about female cancers and, in particular, the importance of breast cancer prevention. Now in its sixth edition, the event is promoted by the Cuore di Donna association.
The beauty of Valle Brembana in Pink is its inclusivity: anyone can participate, regardless of their condition. The day offers three routes of different lengths and difficulties. The first, 3.5 km, is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers and runs along the countryside and cycle path; the second, 6 km, visits the villages of Cornello dei Tasso and Oneta; the third, more challenging, is 10.5 km. You walk along the paths and through the most picturesque places in the valley, rediscovering them under the pink banner of solidarity.
The Cuore di Donna association, founded in 2012 by Myriam Pesenti, is the driving force behind the initiative. Behind the event is the work of about fifty volunteers, and the local community's response is always very warm: in the last edition, there were over six hundred participants. Cuore di Donna thus combines the sporting dimension with awareness-raising, transforming a walk into a collective gesture of prevention and support.
Valle Brembana in Pink is now a fixed event on the Brembana calendar: an event that combines the pleasure of walking, the beauty of the villages of Valle Brembana — from Cornello dei Tasso, an ancient medieval village, to Oneta — and an important cause. Participating means getting some exercise, discovering the area, and, above all, contributing to the fight against cancer.
The 2026 edition of Valle Brembana in Pink, the sixth, is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, in San Giovanni Bianco. The walk "walking against cancer," promoted by the Cuore di Donna association, aims to raise awareness about female cancers and breast cancer prevention.
Registrations open at 8:00 AM at the Palazzetto dello Sport; the start is at 9:00 AM. Participants can choose from three routes — 3.5 km accessible to wheelchairs and strollers, 6 km between Cornello dei Tasso and Oneta, 10.5 km — with arrival at the Rampinelli gardens.
