The great music of the Val Tidone Festival in the medieval village of Rivalta, Gazzola
Every year, the Val Tidone Festival chooses the medieval village of Rivalta, in the Municipality of Gazzola (Province of Piacenza), as one of its most enchanting settings. The concert is held outdoors, in the picturesque village overlooking the Tidone stream, with Rivalta Castle as a backup location in case of bad weather. It is one of the most anticipated evenings of the summer program, hosted thanks to the hospitality of the Zanardi Landi family who preserve the castle.
Founded in 1988, the Val Tidone Festival is one of the longest-running music festivals in Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Val Tidone Musica Foundation with the artistic direction of Livio Bollani and the support of the Fondazione di Piacenza e Vigevano, the festival disseminates live music in castles, theaters, villas, squares, and enchanting locations throughout Val Tidone, Val Luretta, and the city of Piacenza. The programming ranges from classical music to jazz, from singer-songwriter music to contemporary fusions.
The event in Rivalta is organized in collaboration with the Piacenza Jazz Club and the Summertime in Jazz festival, demonstrating the constant dialogue between great Italian songwriting and jazz language. Prominent national artists and original projects designed specifically for the festival's audience take turns on stage, in an intimate and cozy atmosphere typical of the valley villages.
Attending a Val Tidone Festival concert in Rivalta means experiencing music in one of the most beautiful villages in the Piacenza area, amidst cobbled alleys, the medieval manor, and the hills of Val Luretta. The evening, with free admission until capacity is reached, combines high-quality listening with the discovery of unique historical and landscape heritage, in an experience that enhances the territory of the Province of Piacenza and the entire Emilia-Romagna region.
The 28th edition of the Val Tidone Festival (from June 7 to October 16, 2026, with 17 concerts plus an autumn recital in the twelve municipalities of Val Tidone-Val Luretta and in Piacenza) stops at Rivalta di Gazzola on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 9:15 PM.
The voice of Petra Magoni, accompanied by the Mauro Ottolini Trio, featuring Mauro Ottolini on trombone, bass trombone, shells, and vocals, Thomas Sinigaglia on accordion and looper, and Marco Bianchi on classical guitar, will be the protagonist. The project "Gira Dischi" offers an unusual journey through Italian singer-songwriter music of all time.
The concert, organized in collaboration with the Piacenza Jazz Club and the Summertime in Jazz festival, will be held outdoors in the village (Rivalta Castle in case of bad weather). Admission is free until capacity is reached, with no reservation required.
