A festival that revitalizes the village of Ruffano

Una perdita di tempo Festival is one of the most original cultural experiences in lower Salento. Each year, the event takes over the historic center of Ruffano, a small town in the province of Lecce, turning forgotten houses, courtyards, and alleys into vibrant spaces for meeting, creating, and sharing. The name, provocative and ironic, is a statement of intent: in an era that measures everything by productivity, the festival reclaims the value of slow time—the time of artistic creation and human connection.

The Una Perdita di Tempo collective

The festival was born in 2020 from the vision of a group of young locals and has grown into Una Perdita di Tempo APS-ETS, an association officially established in 2024 by nine young professionals working in art, culture, and local development. The collective promotes artistic experimentation, the regeneration of forgotten spaces, and the building of new communities, offering artists a structured environment to create and challenge themselves. The project has developed with the patronage of the Municipality of Ruffano and the collaboration of local Salento entities.

Visual arts, music, theater, and more

The heart of the festival is its multidisciplinary nature: the program features visual arts, original exhibitions by the collective, live music (ranging from jazz to electronic), theater, dance and performances, film screenings, photography, creative workshops, and discussions on social and humanistic themes. Each edition revolves around a central theme that guides the entire program: past chapters have included "Roots," "Faces," and, in 2025, "Living."

Ruffano and Salento

Ruffano is located in the southern part of the Lecce province, in an area of Salento rich in villages, traditions, and rural landscapes. The festival engages deeply with this context: by choosing domestic spaces and courtyards in the historic center, it invites residents and visitors to rediscover their town with a fresh perspective, using contemporary art as a tool for community building and reclaiming space. It is an event designed primarily for young local artists and creatives, but open to anyone who wants to slow down and be surprised.

When it takes place

Historically, the festival is held between late summer and early autumn, typically in September. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers; updated information on the program and events is published on the collective's official channels.
