A festival dedicated to peace, solidarity, and international cooperation in Calenzano
Un Altro Mondo is the festival that transforms Calenzano, a town in the Metropolitan City of Florence, Tuscany, into a vibrant hub for reflection on the great issues of our time: peace, solidarity, and international cooperation. Now in its second edition in 2026, the event stems from the commitment of the Municipality of Calenzano and the Department of International Cooperation to give voice to these themes, actively involving citizens, local associations, and volunteer groups.
From June 22 to July 17, 2026, the program features ten events alternating between film screenings, meetings with experts and witnesses, performances, and social gatherings. The festival opens with three evenings dedicated to Palestinian cinema (June 22, 25, and 29), featuring the films La voce di Hind Rajab, The Sea, and Tutto quello che resta di te, hosted in local social clubs and the charming Castle garden.
All festival events are free to attend, with the exception of the dinners, which are organized to raise funds for the associations and projects supported by the festival. This format, which combines information, culture, and social interaction, makes Un Altro Mondo a precious opportunity for the Calenzano community to engage with global issues starting from their own local territory.
Located at the gates of Florence, at the foot of the Apennines and a short distance from the Florentine Plain, Calenzano preserves a historic center gathered around the Castle, which serves as the venue for many of the festival's events. The event is part of a broader tradition of civic engagement and volunteerism that characterizes this corner of Tuscany, offering residents and visitors a summer calendar focused on participation and active citizenship.
The second edition of Un Altro Mondo brings a program of ten events to Calenzano. Three evenings are dedicated to Palestinian cinema (June 22, 25, and 29) with the films La voce di Hind Rajab, The Sea, and Tutto quello che resta di te. On July 2, at the La Vedetta club, a charity dinner for Palestine precedes the meeting "From words to action." On July 5, an in-depth look at Sudan and Emergency; on July 6, the show with Mamadou Diakitè; on July 9, sport and fraternity with Sahrawi children between Viola Park and the Magnolfi stadium; on July 17, in Legri, the story of the journey of the Defender vehicle donated by the city.
Calenzano is easily accessible by car via the A1 motorway (Calenzano-Sesto Fiorentino exit) and is located just a few kilometers from Florence. By train, the Calenzano station is served by the regional line; the nearest airport is Florence-Peretola.
The events take place in various locations around the city: local social clubs, the municipal library, and the Castle garden.
All initiatives are free, except for charity dinners aimed at fundraising. For the complete program and updates, please consult the Municipality of Calenzano website.
