Hot air balloons arrive in Todi
The Umbria Balloon Festival is the first edition of a large, widespread festival dedicated to hot air ballooning, which from 25 April to 20 September 2026 will travel through fourteen municipalities in Umbria. Among these, Todi stands out, a jewel in the province of Perugia overlooking the middle Tiber valley, which hosts one of the most anticipated stops.
Free flights and spectacle in the Umbrian sky
The festival offers three types of experiences: free flights where enthusiasts arrive with their own balloons and citizens and tourists can experience the thrill of riding in a hot air balloon; tethered flights, in locations where free flight is not permitted; and night-time musical performances with illuminated balloons. In Todi, the main event is concentrated between 31 July and 2 August.
The Consolazione event
A symbolic moment is scheduled for 8 September, coinciding with the Feast of the Consolazione: a tethered flight near the Renaissance Temple of the Consolazione, one of Todi's most beloved monuments, offers a unique backdrop to the event.

Promoted by Bil Benefit with the support of the Umbria Region and the Provinces of Perugia and Terni, the Umbria Balloon Festival integrates with the food, wine, and cultural excellences of each stop, in a widespread calendar that invites you to look up at the sky.
Umbria Balloon Festival — edition 2026
The Todi stop of the Umbria Balloon Festival 2026 takes place between July 31 and August 2, with free and tethered flights colouring the sky over Todi. The event is part of a widespread regional programme (April 25 - September 20, 2026) that touches fourteen Umbrian municipalities. In Todi, a special event is also planned for September 8, on the occasion of the Feast of the Consolazione, with a tethered flight near the Temple of the Consolazione.
