Eight days of international jazz beneath the Mole
The Turin Jazz Festival is one of the most significant musical events in Piedmont and across the entire Italian jazz scene. Established in 2012 and promoted by the City of Turin, it has quickly become a staple of the Turin spring, attracting a vast audience and bringing some of the most prestigious names in global jazz to the Piedmontese capital.
The festival follows a widespread format: for over a week, jazz takes over dozens of city venues, from historic theaters like the Teatro Colosseo and Teatro Alfieri to intimate clubs, concert halls, and open-air spaces. This capillarity is a hallmark of the festival, which successfully blends high-profile evening concerts with a dense schedule of free events designed to introduce jazz to new audiences.
The Turin Jazz Festival lineup alternates between international contemporary jazz stars, Italian masters, and emerging talents. Over the years, the Turin stage has hosted pianists, trumpeters, saxophonists, and bands from the United States, Europe, Africa, and South America, fostering a continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation, mainstream and avant-garde.
The festival is more than just concerts: the program includes Jazz Talks (meetings and conferences), Jazz Cinema screenings, jam sessions in local clubs, and special projects involving the local community. Special attention is given to April 30th, the date of the International Jazz Day proclaimed by UNESCO, which is always celebrated with a concert of great symbolic value.
The choice of Turin as a stage is no coincidence: the capital of the Province of Turin, in Piedmont, boasts a long musical tradition and a network of world-class theaters and auditoriums, from the Auditorium del Lingotto to the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi. During the festival, the city comes alive with a cosmopolitan crowd, and jazz becomes the perfect excuse to rediscover local landmarks and neighborhoods in a new light.
For those who love live music and want to experience Turin at its most vibrant, the Turin Jazz Festival is an unmissable appointment: an eight-day journey through sounds, surprises, and great emotions in the heart of Piedmont.
The fourteenth edition of the Turin Jazz Festival took its title from a famous definition by American critic Whitney Balliett, "The Sound of Surprise" (1959). Eight days of main programming, preceded by three days of previews in jazz clubs, for a total of 101 events distributed across 72 city venues.
Between major evening concerts and free appointments, the 2026 edition confirmed the international vocation of the festival, with leading Italian and foreign artists and a special focus on the UNESCO International Jazz Day on April 30th.
