The grand travelling funfair of Arona, held in conjunction with the Tredicino patronal feast
The Tredicino Funfair is one of the most anticipated events of the year in Arona, in the Province of Novara, Piedmont. Set up in the spacious Piazzale Aldo Moro, the travelling amusement park accompanies the two-week celebration of the Tredicino, the ancient patronal feast that gives the event its name. Regarded as one of the largest travelling parks in Northern Italy and the most extensive in the Lake Maggiore area, every edition offers over 70 attractions to suit all ages.
The name refers to March 13th, the date of Arona's patronal feast. The tradition dates back to 1576, when the sacred remains of the martyrs Fedele and Carpoforo, kept in the church of San Graziano, returned to the city after being moved to Milan by order of Saint Charles Borromeo: their return, which took place on March 13th, was celebrated with a great popular festival. Since then, the Tredicino has combined religious observance with collective leisure, featuring processions, choirs, and the historic violet festival.
The heart of the event remains the funfair, with adrenaline-pumping rides, Ferris wheels, bumper cars, children's attractions, and stalls selling cotton candy, fritters, and classic fairground treats. Every year, travelling showmen bring new, state-of-the-art rides to Arona:
The program includes several initiatives dedicated to the community. On the patronal feast day of March 13th, the funfair remains open all day. There are also School Days, offering discounts for Arona students, and a day dedicated to people with disabilities, during which all attractions at Piazzale Aldo Moro are free for disabled visitors and their companions upon request.
Thanks to Arona's prime location on Lake Maggiore and its excellent transport links, the Tredicino Funfair has become a major draw for the entire Upper Piedmont region and surrounding lakeside towns. The event is organized by the Lake Maggiore Funfair operators in collaboration with the Municipality of Arona, local businesses, and regional associations, highlighting the deep bond between the festival and the city.
The 2026 Tredicino Funfair brought the Piazzale Aldo Moro in Arona to life from Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 22, confirming its status as one of Northern Italy's largest travelling parks with over 70 attractions.
The major highlights of the edition were Galaxy 360 and Rocket, two pure adrenaline rides that perform a full 360-degree rotation. Extended weekend hours were confirmed, as well as the non-stop opening from 10:00 to 24:00 on Wednesday, March 13, for the patronal feast.
Among the side initiatives were the School Days on March 11 and 19, offering discounts for Arona students, and on Tuesday, March 17, a day with all attractions free for people with disabilities and their companions.
