About Tredicino Funfair

Every year, coinciding with the historic Tredicino patronal feast, Piazzale Aldo Moro in Arona transforms into one of Northern Italy's largest travelling funfairs. Featuring over 70 attractions for all agesโ€”from thrill rides and bumper cars to Ferris wheels and food stallsโ€”the event draws families and visitors from across Lake Maggiore and the Piedmont region for two weeks in March. It is a traditional gathering that blends devotion, entertainment, and local identity on the shores of the lake.

The Tredicino Funfair: An Arona Tradition

The Tredicino Funfair is one of the most anticipated events of the year in Arona, in the Province of Novara, Piedmont. Set up in the spacious Piazzale Aldo Moro, the travelling amusement park accompanies the two-week celebration of the Tredicino, the ancient patronal feast that gives the event its name. Regarded as one of the largest travelling parks in Northern Italy and the most extensive in the Lake Maggiore area, every edition offers over 70 attractions to suit all ages.

The Origins: The Tredicino Feast

The name refers to March 13th, the date of Arona's patronal feast. The tradition dates back to 1576, when the sacred remains of the martyrs Fedele and Carpoforo, kept in the church of San Graziano, returned to the city after being moved to Milan by order of Saint Charles Borromeo: their return, which took place on March 13th, was celebrated with a great popular festival. Since then, the Tredicino has combined religious observance with collective leisure, featuring processions, choirs, and the historic violet festival.

Attractions and New Features

The heart of the event remains the funfair, with adrenaline-pumping rides, Ferris wheels, bumper cars, children's attractions, and stalls selling cotton candy, fritters, and classic fairground treats. Every year, travelling showmen bring new, state-of-the-art rides to Arona:

  • Galaxy 360 and Rocket, two adrenaline-fueled attractions that were the stars of the most recent edition, capable of full 360-degree rotations
  • Numerous rides for younger children and family-friendly attractions
  • Food stalls serving typical local fairground delicacies

Special Days

The program includes several initiatives dedicated to the community. On the patronal feast day of March 13th, the funfair remains open all day. There are also School Days, offering discounts for Arona students, and a day dedicated to people with disabilities, during which all attractions at Piazzale Aldo Moro are free for disabled visitors and their companions upon request.

A Regional Landmark

Thanks to Arona's prime location on Lake Maggiore and its excellent transport links, the Tredicino Funfair has become a major draw for the entire Upper Piedmont region and surrounding lakeside towns. The event is organized by the Lake Maggiore Funfair operators in collaboration with the Municipality of Arona, local businesses, and regional associations, highlighting the deep bond between the festival and the city.
