Trebaseleghe's DIY carnival, featuring carts, wheelbarrows, and wheeled vehicles
The Trebaseleghe Cart Carnival is a Carnival parade with an original format, held in the municipality of the province of Padua, bordering the Treviso area. The unique feature is the "floats": not traditional allegorical floats, but wheeled vehicles self-built by participants, who unleash their imagination.
Parading are strollers, bicycles, wheelbarrows, tillers, Ape cars, and other wheeled vehicles, decorated and transformed with ingenuity and creativity. It's a popular and participatory Carnival, where inventiveness matters more than spectacle, and where every family can build their own cart.
The parade starts from Piazza Principe di Piemonte, usually in the early afternoon, and concludes at the youth center, where the party continues with music, games, and awards. An event designed primarily for the town's children and families.
The Cart Carnival is organized by the Circolo NOI Pier Giorgio Frassati with the patronage of the Municipality of Trebaseleghe. The result of the work of volunteers and parish groups, it has quickly become an anticipated event of the local Carnival in the province of Padua.
The Trebaseleghe Cart Carnival returns during the Carnival period 2026. Following the usual format, the Circolo NOI Pier Giorgio Frassati will again host the parade of self-built wheeled vehicles — strollers, bicycles, wheelbarrows, tillers, Ape cars — from Piazza Principe di Piemonte to the youth center, with music, games, and awards.
The exact date (usually a Saturday afternoon during Carnival) and details for registration will be announced by Circolo NOI Frassati and the Municipality of Trebaseleghe in the weeks preceding the event.
Program coming soon. The usual structure includes a Carnival afternoon (gathering around 2:30 PM in Piazza Principe di Piemonte) with the parade of carts and decorated self-built wheeled vehicles, arrival at the youth center, and continuation of the party with music, games, and awards for the most original masks and carts. The 2026 date and times will be published by Circolo NOI Frassati.
