About Tones Teatro Natura

Tones Teatro Natura is a summer festival that transforms a former marble quarry in Oira di Crevoladossola, nestled at the foot of the Piedmontese Alps, into an extraordinary natural stone amphitheatre. From June 26 to September 6, 2026, the twentieth season will span genres, eras, and artistic languages: from opera to electronic music, jazz to stand-up comedy, and aerial dance to scientific outreach. A unique experience in Italy where music, theatre, art, and nature converge in the heart of the Ossola Valley.

A theatre carved into the mountains

In the municipality of Crevoladossola, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (Piedmont), lies one of the most surprising cultural venues in Italy: Tones Teatro Natura, an amphitheatre carved into the Roncino Quarry, in the hamlet of Oira. What was once a marble quarry is now a unique stage where rock walls serve as a natural backdrop and a resonance chamber for performances of all kinds. In 2026, the festival celebrates its twentieth summer of shows, festivals, and visions.

A multidisciplinary festival

Tones Teatro Natura is more than just a concert series: it is a cultural project that weaves together music, theatre, dance, art, science, gastronomy, and outdoor activities. The 2026 programme is divided into several distinct festivals, each with its own identity, running from June 26 to September 6:

  • Sphera โ€” an interdisciplinary festival dedicated to circular visions and ecological transition, blending art, culture, science, and nature;
  • CM Orchestra โ€” an interactive show featuring an orchestra, musicians, and dancers, with special guest Malika Ayane;
  • Nextones โ€” a boutique festival and European benchmark for digital and electronic languages, featuring immersive site-specific installations;
  • Aida โ€” Giuseppe Verdi's opera in an immersive four-dimensional production;
  • Mountain Sound Festival โ€” two days of psychedelia, kraut-rock, shoegaze, and electronic experimentation;
  • Ossola in Jazz and beyond โ€” a grand finale featuring jazz concerts and cross-electronic performances.

Nature and sustainability

The connection to the environment is an integral part of the festival's philosophy, which is certified according to the international ISO 20121 standard for event sustainability. Spectators are immersed in an alpine landscape that shifts in colour with the light of day and evening, where the nature of the Ossola Valley constantly dialogues with artistic creation. It is an experience that goes beyond a single event: a true summer season to be lived through multiple appointments.

How to experience the season

Organised by the Tones on the Stones Foundation, the festival has built a national and international reputation over twenty years, attracting top-tier artists and a curious, attentive audience to Piedmont. Reaching Oira di Crevoladossola and attending a show in the stone amphitheatre, with the Ossola mountains as a backdrop, is an unforgettable experience: the perfect meeting point between landscape, reclaimed industrial architecture, and live art.
