The re-enactment of the peasant world in the Montenerese Summer
In Montenero di Bisaccia, an agricultural village in the province of Campobasso overlooking the Adriatic Sea, the Threshing Festival brings back to life one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the peasant world: grain threshing, a central moment of the agricultural cycle of the past.
The event re-enacts the ancient gestures of harvesting and threshing, with vintage machinery and tools, the processing of grain, and the sharing of traditional peasant dishes. It is a journey into the collective memory of the village, allowing younger generations to discover how the harvest was carried out before mechanization, and older generations to rediscover memories of their childhood.
Included in the "Estate Montenerese" program, the festival is listed among the most important events in Montenero di Bisaccia, alongside the Ventricina Sausage Festival, the artisan exhibition, and the wine festival, testifying to the strong rural and gastronomic identity of this corner of Molise.
The Threshing Festival is also expected in the summer of 2026 in Montenero di Bisaccia, as part of the "Estate Montenerese". The event re-enacts the ancient grain threshing with vintage machinery and tools, showing the gestures of the harvest of the past and offering traditional peasant dishes. The precise date will be announced by the Municipality with the publication of the summer program.
Detailed dates and program will be released with the "Estate Montenerese" schedule.
