For Holocaust Remembrance Day, Isernia hosts the concert 'The Violin of the Shoah – Lest We Forget': violinist Alessandra Sonia Romano plays the instrument that belonged to Eva Maria Levy, a young musician deported and murdered at Auschwitz. An intense event, particularly aimed at students, which intertwines music and memory in the '10 September 1943' Auditorium.

A violin that tells the Shoah

On the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Isernia, the capital of Molise, hosts the concert 'The Violin of the Shoah – Lest We Forget'. At the heart of the event is an instrument of extraordinary symbolic value: the violin that belonged to Eva Maria Levy, a young musician deported and murdered at Auschwitz, now played to give voice back to the victims of Nazi persecution.

The performers

The violin is played by Alessandra Sonia Romano, a violinist of Isernia origins, accompanied on the piano by Sandra Conte, a composer and professor at the Conservatory of Cuneo, winner of the 'Alma Rosé' competition with a composition dedicated to the children of Terezín. The dialogue between the two instruments transforms the concert into an emotional and educational journey.

Memory entrusted to the young

The initiative, promoted by the Prefecture of Isernia with the Municipality, the provincial School Office, and the local Pro Loco, is particularly aimed at students, who are the protagonists of the event at the '10 September 1943' Auditorium. The concert is part of the calendar of territorial initiatives for Remembrance Day and is also open to the public, confirming the commitment of the Isernia community to not forget.
