The international burlesque festival held in Rome over Valentine's weekend
The That's Amore Burlesque Festival Rome is one of the most important Italian events dedicated to the art of burlesque, transforming Rome every winter into the international capital of this stage discipline defined by elegance, irony, sensuality, and theatricality. Conceived and produced by Sophie Sapphire with co-production by Ann Da Loos, the festival attracts artists from across Europe and the rest of the world to the Capital, blending the tradition of vintage burlesque with its most contemporary interpretations.
In 2026, the festival reaches the milestone of its tenth edition, dubbed the Golden Edition for the occasion, scheduled for Valentine's weekend, February 13th and 14th. Over fifty performers will take the stage in a journey that begins with competitions for debutants and culminates in grand challenges dedicated to the queens and kings of burlesque, before a panel of experts and the warmth of the Roman audience.
The event takes place across two iconic venues. The opening night on Friday is held at Primo Piano, featuring the Debut Competition reserved for those stepping onto a festival stage for the first time, along with the "The Best Debut" and "The Best Group/Duet" awards. On Saturday, the action moves to the historic Teatro Golden on Via Taranto, in the San Giovanni district: in the afternoon, the Cocktail Gala with the election of the Princess/Prince of Amore, and in the evening, the spectacular Queens and Kings Competition, where the titles of Queen/King of Amore, of Emotion, and of Heart are awarded.
More than just a performance, the burlesque presented by the festival is a scenic language that weaves together theater, dance, comedy, costume, and live music. The festival's philosophy centers on the "emotion of the imperfect" and expressive freedom, highlighting the personality and creativity of each performer. The result is a colorful and engaging show, suitable for those who love the atmosphere of old-time cabaret as well as those discovering this world for the first time.
Hosted in the Municipality of Rome, the heart of the Lazio Region, the festival chooses Valentine's Day as the ideal backdrop for an event that celebrates love, passion, and beauty in all their forms. The Teatro Golden, converted from the former Cinema Golden and easily accessible from the Re di Roma and San Giovanni metro stations, offers an intimate and immersive hall that brings every act even closer to the spectators.
