About Battiti

Every November, the Teatro Furio Camillo in Rome's Tuscolano-Appio Latino district hosts Battiti, an international contemporary circus-theater festival curated by the L'Archimandrita Cultural Association. Over four weekends, sixteen shows featuring around forty Italian and international artists blend aerial acrobatics, juggling, clowning, dance, and physical theater. The refined program also includes 'Piccoli Battiti', Sunday sessions designed for children, combining the poetry of movement with live wonder.

Battiti: Contemporary circus-theater on stage in Rome

Battiti - International Circus-Theater Festival is one of the most original events in the capital's cultural autumn. Established in 2014 and reaching its thirteenth edition in 2026, the festival is hosted by the Teatro Furio Camillo, a historic venue in the Tuscolano-Appio Latino district of Rome's VII Municipality. Curated by the L'Archimandrita Cultural Association, Battiti was born from the fusion of high-level circus techniques and acting, creating a hybrid theater where acrobatics, gesture, and storytelling converge.

A month of shows blending circus, dance, and theater

Throughout November, four consecutive weekends transform the stage of the Teatro Furio Camillo into a space for experimentation. The program brings together sixteen shows and about forty artists from Italian and international companies, offering a journey that ranges from aerial dance to juggling, clowning to physical theater, and visual comedy to contemporary circus disciplines.

  • Friday and Saturday evenings at 9:00 PM, featuring the festival's headline shows
  • Sunday afternoons at 6:00 PM, showcasing new creations and national premieres
  • Piccoli Battiti, the section for younger audiences, performed on Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM

Piccoli Battiti and family activities

Alongside the main program, the Piccoli Battiti section offers shows and workshops designed for children and families, ranging from puppet theater to gentle acrobatics. The festival complements performances with training sessions and opportunities to meet the artists, confirming its role as a cultural hub for the local area and a place of discovery for new generations.

A festival rooted in the community

An expression of the artistic vibrancy of Rome's southeast quadrant, Battiti has long engaged with the local neighborhood and outdoor spaces, such as the Acquedotto Felice area at Mandrione, which has hosted summer events related to the festival in the past. The project, supported by the Lazio Region as part of its live performance initiatives, has established itself as one of the few Roman showcases entirely dedicated to auteur circus-theater, attracting companies from across Europe to the heart of Rome.

Battiti — edition 2026

The thirteenth edition of Battiti takes place at the Teatro Furio Camillo in Rome from November 6 to 29, 2026: four weekends, sixteen shows, and forty Italian and international contemporary circus-theater artists, with the Piccoli Battiti section dedicated to children on Sunday mornings.

Battiti 2026 - Thirteenth edition

From November 6 to 29, 2026, the Teatro Furio Camillo in Rome hosts the thirteenth edition of Battiti - International Circus-Theater Festival.
