Three days of books and author meet-and-greets at the Castello Baronale in Torrita Tiberina, on the banks of the Tiber River.
The Tevere Book Festival is the signature literary event of Torrita Tiberina, a village in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital perched on a bend of the Tiber, on the border between the Roman countryside and the Sabina region. For three days, the halls of the Castello Baronale – Palazzo Savelli, including the Sala Aldo Moro, transform into a literary salon: book presentations, meetings with writers and screenwriters, exhibitions, and workshops invite the public to discover one of the most authentic corners of the Lazio region alongside their reading.
The event debuted from September 19 to 21, 2025, curated by Kipling Servizi Editoriali with CREW CREative Writers Italia and in collaboration with the Scripta Manent (historical novel) and NeRoma Noir festivals, with the support of the Lazio Region and the Nazzano Tevere-Farfa Regional Nature Reserve. The inaugural lineup brought authors such as crime writer Andrea Cotti, screenwriters Flumeri & Giacometti, Valentina Cebeni, Luigi Boccia, Nicola Lombardi, and Paolo di Orazio to the village, alongside the actors and content creators of Casa Abis. The program was rounded out by a photography exhibition by Silvia Como dedicated to the Tiber River, contemporary artworks in the Fondazione Serpone botanical garden, and a creative writing workshop for children.
With its second edition, held from June 12 to 14, 2026, the festival changed its season and organizational structure: it is now promoted directly by the Nazzano Tevere-Farfa Regional Nature Reserve, which has integrated the three-day literary event into its cultural calendar. The festival takes place in conjunction with the contemporary art exhibition 'Echi di Terra – forme al confine', hosted at the castle from May 9 to June 14, and has launched a competition for the best unpublished short stories in Italian, dedicated this year to the theme 'Segreti Sommersi' (Submerged Secrets).
The heart of the festival is the Castello Baronale – Palazzo Savelli, located at Via Aldo Moro 1, which dominates the historic center of Torrita Tiberina. The Sala Aldo Moro hosts the main meetings, while the other rooms house exhibitions and displays: a cozy, reader-friendly setting where the dialogue between authors and the public remains direct and informal, far from the crowds of large book fairs.
Torrita Tiberina lies adjacent to the Nazzano Tevere-Farfa Regional Nature Reserve, one of the most important river oases in Lazio, a destination for birdwatching, hiking, cycling, and river boating. The festival thus becomes an opportunity to visit the municipality of Torrita Tiberina and the Tiber Valley north of Rome: stone villages, cultivated hills, and the great river that gives its name—and spirit—to the event, a culture that, as the organizers promise, 'will continue to flow like the Tiber'.
The second edition of the Tevere Book Festival was held from June 12 to 14, 2026, in the halls of the Castello Baronale – Palazzo Savelli in Torrita Tiberina, in the Metropolitan City of Rome. Following its debut in September 2025, the festival came under the direction of the Nazzano Tevere-Farfa Regional Nature Reserve, which included it in its cultural event calendar and moved it to the beginning of summer.
The weekend featured three days of literary meetings and book presentations, in dialogue with the contemporary art exhibition 'Echi di Terra – forme al confine', hosted at the castle from May 9 to June 14, 2026, curated by Anna Maria Angelucci, and continuing at the Museo del Fiume in Nazzano from June 20 to 28. A new feature of this edition was the competition for the best unpublished short stories in Italian, themed 'Segreti Sommersi'.
According to the Reserve, the second edition concluded with high participation, confirming the small village on the Tiber's vocation as a meeting point for literature, art, and nature in the Lazio region north of Rome.
