About Terracina Chocolate Festival

Twice a year, in spring and autumn, the heart of Terracina transforms into a paradise for food lovers with the Artisan Chocolate Festival, the Lazio stop of the National Chocolate Festival Tour. Between Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Mazzini, master chocolatiers from all over Italy offer handmade pralines, gianduiotti, cremini, and chocolate shards, while children enjoy entertainment and Choco Play workshops. Free admission from 10 a.m. until late at night.

Artisan chocolate conquers Terracina

Since 2025, Terracina has joined the National Chocolate Festival Tour circuit, a traveling event organized by the Choco Amore Association that brings the best of artisan chocolate to Italian town squares. The Pontine city hosted its first major edition from April 4 to 6, 2025, in Piazza Garibaldi, followed in October by the second edition in Piazza Mazzini: a double appointment, in spring and autumn, that immediately won over residents and visitors alike.

A national tour showcasing master chocolatiers

The format is the well-established one of square chocolate festivals: for three days, from 10 a.m. until late at night, stalls from master chocolatiers from all over Italy display and sell their creations, prepared according to the Italian artisan tradition recognized at the European level for its excellence. The product arrives fresh, directly from the producer to the consumer, without intermediaries: an opportunity to discover techniques and pairings rarely found in large-scale retail.

What you will find at the stalls

The selection covers all variations of artisan chocolate:

  • Refined pralines and cremini with unique flavors;
  • Gianduiotti and specialties enriched with dried fruits typical of Southern Italy;
  • Chocolate shards and bars in milk, dark, and flavored varieties;
  • Spreadable creams, chocolate desserts, and spiced combinations;
  • In the spring edition, close to Easter, decorated eggs, chicks, and chocolate bunnies.

Choco Play: workshops and activities for children

Alongside the stalls, the Choco Play area offers entertainment designed for families: mascots, face painting, and creative activities enliven the square for the duration of the festival. Educational workshops, reserved for primary and middle school students, introduce younger generations to the culture of chocolate and conscious consumption; teachers can book class participation directly on the organization's website.

Terracina, between the sea and the old town

The festival is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Terracina, in the province of Latina, in southern Lazio. The town, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and dominated by the Temple of Jupiter Anxur, offers visitors the chance to combine the delights of the event with a stroll through the upper old town, of Roman origin, and the seafront: an ideal destination for a day trip from Rome, Latina, or Naples, even out of season.

A twice-yearly event

The double-stop formula—spring in Piazza Garibaldi, autumn in Piazza Mazzini—makes the Artisan Chocolate Festival a recurring appointment in the Terracina calendar. Admission is always free, and the extended hours until late at night make the visit convenient for both families and those arriving from out of town.

Terracina Chocolate Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Terracina Artisan Chocolate Festival has not yet been officially announced. The National Chocolate Festival Tour has already published several 2026 stops in other Italian cities, but the return to Terracina — which hosted two editions in 2025, in April and October — remains pending confirmation from the Choco Amore Association. Based on the calendar of past editions, a potential new stop is expected in the autumn season.

The National Chocolate Festival Tour continues in 2026 with new stops throughout Italy, but at the moment, the organization has not announced dates for Terracina. In 2025, the Pontine city hosted two events: the first edition from April 4 to 6 in Piazza Garibaldi and the second from October 17 to 19 in Piazza Mazzini, both with free admission and continuous hours from 10 a.m. until late at night.

If the formula is repeated, visitors will find the stalls of master chocolatiers from all over Italy, with artisan pralines, gianduiotti, cremini, and chocolate shards, as well as the Choco Play area with entertainment and workshops for children and schools. We recommend following the official channels of festedelcioccolato.it for the announcement of the next dates.
