About TeatrOltre

TeatrOltre is the multidisciplinary festival that for over twenty years has accompanied Pesaro's cold season with the best of the Italian and international contemporary scene. Conceived and produced by AMAT, it intertwines research theatre, dance, and music in a distributed programme that from December to June touches the Teatro Sperimentale, the Teatro Rossini, the Sala della Repubblica, and other city venues. Cult names like Motus, Babilonia Teatri, and Mariangela Gualtieri alternate with concerts and a focus dedicated to dance, for a journey into the present of the performing arts in the Marche region.

A festival that looks beyond

TeatrOltre is the multidisciplinary festival of theatre, dance, and music that enlivens Pesaro, in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, throughout the winter and spring season. Conceived and produced by AMAT - Associazione Marchigiana Attività Teatrali with the support of the Marche Region and the Ministry of Culture, the festival reached its twenty-second edition in 2026, confirming itself as one of the most anticipated events in the cultural programming of the city that was Italian Capital of Culture.

The name itself tells of its vocation: to go beyond the boundaries of genres and disciplines, bringing together research prose, contemporary dance, and author music in a single, coherent artistic path that spans the months of the year when the city experiences its theatres with greater intensity.

A distributed programme across theatres and churches

TeatrOltre is a distributed festival: the performances take place in some of Pesaro's most significant venues, from the Teatro Sperimentale to the Teatro Rossini, from the Sala della Repubblica to the churches in the historic centre used as evocative performance spaces. The review is part of a larger regional project involving numerous towns in the Marche region, including Fano, Urbino, Cagli, Fabriano, Jesi, Senigallia, Urbania, Montalto delle Marche, and San Benedetto del Tronto.

The protagonists of the 2026 edition

The 2026 Pesaro programme brought together some of the most important companies and artists on the contemporary scene. Among the most anticipated events:

  • Alessandro Sciarroni with U., to open the festival's journey;
  • Babilonia Teatri with Abracadabra;
  • Sotterraneo with Shakespearology;
  • Motus with Frankenstein_diptych;
  • Mariangela Gualtieri and Teatro Valdoca with Ruvido umano;
  • Roberto Latini with Giulietta e Romeo;
  • Muta Imago with Atomica;
  • concerts by Jay-Jay Johanson and Teho Teardo & Blixa Bargeld;
  • the Pesaro Danza Focus Festival, a day entirely dedicated to dance.

The festival closed on June 7th with the open studio Scemi del villaggio by Niccolò Fettarappa, confirming the programme's attention to new dramaturgy and emerging languages.

Atmosphere and identity

What makes TeatrOltre a special event is its ability to bring to Pesaro, a city of the sea and music, the homeland of Gioachino Rossini, the most innovative and radical voices of authorial theatre and dance. The audience from the Marche region and the many spectators who come from outside the region find here a demanding and curated programme, capable of alternating great international names and Italian research, concerts and performances, in an intimate and collected atmosphere typical of the city's historic theatres.

TeatrOltre — edition 2026

The twenty-second edition of TeatrOltre animated Pesaro from December 2025 to June 2026 with a programme of about 28 events including theatre, dance, and contemporary music, spread across the Teatro Sperimentale, the Teatro Rossini, and the Sala della Repubblica, as well as other towns in the Marche region involved.

TeatrOltre 2026 - XXII Edition

The 2026 edition of TeatrOltre, the twenty-second, ran from December 2025 until June 7th, 2026, with approximately 28 events of theatre, dance, and music. The multidisciplinary AMAT festival brought some of the most important names of the contemporary scene to Pesaro.
