About Vignola Theatrical Season

Every winter, the Teatro Vignola in Polignano a Mare, in the province of Bari, hosts a theatrical season promoted by the Municipality in partnership with the regional circuit Puglia Culture. From December to April, the program features a mix of prose, dance, and live music, bringing major names from the Italian stage alongside local Apulian companies and contemporary productions to the Viale delle Rimembranze stage. It is a high-quality festival that enlivens the cultural life of this Adriatic town well beyond the beach season, with a loyal audience that follows the performances through season tickets.

The prose season at Teatro Vignola

The Teatro Vignola Theatrical Season is the most anticipated cultural event of the winter in Polignano a Mare, an elegant town overlooking the Adriatic in the province of Bari, Apulia. Every year, between late December and spring, the small and welcoming theatre on Viale delle Rimembranze becomes the beating heart of city life, offering a program that weaves together prose, dance, and live music.

A program of prose, dance, and music

The festival stands out for the variety of its offerings: alongside classics of Italian and international drama, there is space for comedy, social theatre, contemporary dance, and original concerts. Over the years, the Vignola stage has hosted leading national performers alongside Apulian companies and artists, in a constant dialogue between big names and new voices of contemporary theatre.

Each edition features an average of eight or nine subscription shows, with a rhythm that accompanies the audience from the Christmas period until spring. The subscription model builds audience loyalty and allows viewers to follow the entire artistic journey proposed by the management.

Teatro Vignola, a cultural landmark

The Teatro Vignola, part of the Vignola Cinemas complex, has long been a cultural bastion for Polignano a Mare and the entire surrounding area. Its intimate size creates a direct and personal connection between artists and the audience, enhancing every performance. In addition to the theatrical season, the venue offers a rich calendar of art-house cinema and events throughout the year.

Puglia Culture and the Municipality of Polignano

The season is organized by the Municipality of Polignano a Mare in collaboration with Puglia Culture, the regional consortium that coordinates theatrical programming in Apulian municipalities and ensures the quality and variety of the schedule. This collaboration integrates Polignano into the wider cultural circuit of the Apulia Region, bringing national-level productions to a provincial setting.

A winter of theatre on the Adriatic

Attending the Vignola Theatrical Season means discovering another side of Polignano, far from the summer image of cliffs and beaches: that of a community that lives culture intensely even during the colder months. For visitors, it is an opportunity to combine an evening at the theatre with the discovery of the charming historic centre and the famous local gastronomy.
