Tajarin and Bagna Freida Festival

The Tajarin and Bagna Freida Festival of Villafranca d'Asti (province of Asti, Piedmont) officially debuts in 2026 with its first edition. In 2025, this dedicated festival had not yet been established.

The tradition upon which it is based was, however, already well-rooted in the town: the bagna frèida, the summer, cold version of the bagna cauda codified in the Codice della Cucina Autentica Astigiana, has long been recognized as a signature specialty of Villafranca d'Asti, celebrated over the years as part of VininVilla, the wine and bagna frèida festival. Alongside it, egg-based tajarin represent one of the gastronomic excellences of the Asti area and the entire Piedmont region.
