Swordfish Festival in Pozzillo

The 2025 edition of the Swordfish Festival in Pozzillo took place on the last weekend of July in Piazza Santa Margherita Regina, in the heart of the seaside village of Pozzillo, in Acireale (province of Catania). Tastings began in the evening, around 7:00 PM, with free admission.

The absolute star, as per tradition, was the swordfish sandwich: a slice of fresh swordfish grilled and seasoned with Pozzillo-style salmoriglio, the local emulsion of oil, lemon, and oregano. Accompanying the specialty were white wines from the slopes of Mount Etna. The festival, organized by the Club Polisportiva Pozzillese, confirmed its great appeal, enlivening the square with the aromas of the grill and a festive summer atmosphere on the Ionian Sea.
