Majorettes, marching band, and summer festivities at the Villa Comunale in San Vito Romano

The Summer Party in San Vito Romano is a mid-July highlight that blends two local passions: the musical tradition of the marching band and its majorettes, and the community spirit that gathers in the «Vittorio Bachelet» Villa Comunale during the summer. Organized by the Pro Loco San Vito Romano APS Association with the support of the Municipality, the event offers a weekend of parades in the historic center, choreographed performances, food stalls, and a large, free-entry evening party.
The heart of the event is the «Cav. Luigi Paolacci» Marching Band, a local institution founded in 1919 and directed for over forty years by Maestro Luigi Paolacci, for whom it is named. After a long period of inactivity, the band was reformed in 1976 and has since accompanied patronal feasts, civic celebrations, and musical festivals throughout the Prenestini area.
Since 1995, the ensemble has been joined by the San Vito Romano Majorette Group: a dance troupe for girls aged 8 to 30 that performs synchronized routines to the band's music, ranging from traditional to modern repertoires. In 2025, the group, led by president Fabiana De Paolis, celebrated its 30th anniversary, debuting new sparkling uniforms for the occasion.
The most anticipated moment is the parade along Via Mario Theodoli, the historic street that transforms for an afternoon into a runway of colors, twirling, and drum rolls. The procession concludes at the Villa Comunale, where the square hosts choreographed performances by the local group and guest ensembles. The 2025 edition, sponsored by N.B.T.A. Italia, welcomed four groups from the Lazio region: the White Flowers from Pontinia, the Blue Stars from Valmontone, the Dancing Majorettes from Mentana, and the Tiburstars from Tivoli.
As evening falls, the event shifts gears to become the true San Vito Summer Party: the Pro Loco's food stalls serve local dishes, while live music and DJ sets get the crowd dancing to 90s dance hits and reggaeton. It is a formula designed to bring different generations together: families in the afternoon, and younger crowds late into the night.
The Municipality of San Vito Romano, home to just over three thousand residents at an altitude of 655 meters in the Monti Prenestini, is part of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio Region. The village, dominated by Castello Theodoli, is a popular summer destination thanks to its cool climate and surrounding woods. The Summer Party is a key part of the local summer calendar and a perfect opportunity to discover the village at its best.
At the moment, there are no official announcements regarding the 2026 edition of the Summer Party in San Vito Romano. The event, which took place on July 19th and 20th in 2025 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Majorette Group, is traditionally held in mid-July as part of the local summer calendar.
For July 2026, the Pro Loco has already announced other summer initiatives in the village, but not yet the new edition of the majorette festival: it is recommended to follow the channels of the Pro Loco San Vito Romano APS Association and the Municipality of San Vito Romano for final dates and program details.
The program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published. In previous editions, the event included a majorette and band parade along Via Mario Theodoli in the late afternoon, choreographed performances at the «Vittorio Bachelet» Villa Comunale, and, from the evening onwards, food stalls and a party with 90s dance music and reggaeton.
San Vito Romano is located about 60 km east of Rome in the Monti Prenestini. By car: take the A1 Rome-Naples motorway, exit at Valmontone, and continue towards Cave and Genazzano, or take Via Prenestina/Casilina from Rome. By bus: Cotral connections are available from the Rome Ponte Mammolo station (Metro B). The nearest train station is Zagarolo on the Rome-Cassino line, with connecting bus service.
The event is free to attend; food stalls are available for purchase. Performances take place between Via Mario Theodoli and the «Vittorio Bachelet» Villa Comunale.
The village is at an altitude of 655 meters: even in July, evenings can be cool, so bring a sweater. Parking is available in areas adjacent to the center; the historic center is closed to traffic during the parade.
