Summer Convention of the Verdian Lands

A Day Among Collectibles' Rarities

The Summer Convention of the Verdian Lands is the national market-exhibition dedicated to collectibles and small antiques that transforms the village of San Pietro in Cerro, in the lower Val d'Arda, province of Piacenza, into a meeting point for collectors, exhibitors, and the simply curious from all over Italy every summer. The event is organized by the Pro Loco "il Cerro", the association that has been promoting the area for years with events linked to traditions and the passion for collecting.

What You Can Find

The convention is a true paradise for those who love to search for rare items or rediscover objects from their childhood. Along the exhibitors' stalls, you can discover:

• Numismatics: coins and banknotes of all eras, from pre-unification issues to contemporary ones
• Vintage postcards and antique prints
• Antique books and collectible paper materials
• Models and curiosities from the past
• Small antique and collectible items

It has the feel of a specialized convention but is open to everyone: alongside connoisseurs looking for a specific item, there are families and curious visitors who take advantage of the day for a stroll different from the usual.

The Setting: the ex Barattieri Park

The event takes place entirely outdoors, in the greenery of the ex Barattieri Municipal Park, accessible from Via Roma (opposite the Church of San Pietro) or from Via Marconi 3. The shade of the trees and the tranquil atmosphere of the park make visiting pleasant even on hot July days. In case of bad weather, the event is postponed.

San Pietro in Cerro and the Verdian Lands

We are in the territory of the Verdian Lands, the area that links the municipalities of the lower Piacenza and Parma regions to the figure of Giuseppe Verdi, who was born a few kilometers from here. San Pietro in Cerro is famous for its 16th-century Castle of San Pietro in Cerro, and the convention is part of a local calendar full of events—including the philatelic exhibition Cerrofil—that make this small village a reference point for collecting in the Piacenza area.
