Markets, games, and magic in the witches' village
Strigora — A Sunday with the Witches of Triora is the festival that recalls the village's most famous story: the witchcraft trial of 1587, which made Triora (upper Argentina valley, province of Imperia) known throughout Italy as "the village of the witches." A tale of superstition and tragedy that still fuels the village's mysterious charm today.
For one Sunday, the medieval historic center transforms into a journey between history and legend. Among the alleys, markets, period games, music, and themed shows come to life, in an atmosphere that blends historical reenactment and fairytale suggestion, involving both adults and children.
Strigora is recognized among the Authentic Events of Liguria, a brand that promotes events most closely linked to the territory's identity. An ideal opportunity to discover Triora, its alleys, its monuments, and its history, letting yourself be captivated by the magical aura that envelops one of the most fascinating villages in the Ligurian hinterland.
For 2026, Strigora is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, as confirmed by the Liguria Region as part of the Authentic Events 2026. The village of Triora dedicates the day to its most famous story, that of the witches of 1587.
Among the alleys of the medieval historic center, markets, period games, and themed music and shows come to life, in an atmosphere suspended between historical reenactment and fairytale suggestion.
