About Stracivitanova

Stracivitanova is the most beloved footrace on the Macerata coast: an event that for fifty years has drawn thousands of athletes and families to the seafront and the center of Civitanova Marche. Three formats — the competitive half marathon of 21.097 km, the non-competitive 10 km, and the 4 km Strafamily walk — for a great celebration of popular sport, dedicated to solidarity and fun for everyone.

A Half-Century Tradition

Stracivitanova is much more than a footrace: it's an event that is part of the identity of Civitanova Marche, in the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region. Born in the seventies, it is considered the only city event that has never stopped in fifty years — with the exception of the two years of the pandemic — and that has spanned generations of runners, from the first amateur races to the current FIDAL-homologated half marathon.

Three Races, One Celebration

The event combines competitive and popular dimensions. The technical heart is the "Città di Civitanova Marche" Half Marathon, a distance of 21.097 km on a Category A homologated course, valid at the national level and capable of attracting good-level athletes from all over Italy. Alongside it are the non-competitive 10 km, open to those who run for passion without the pressure of the clock, and the 4 km Strafamily, a walk designed for families, children, and groups of friends.

A Route Between Sea and City

The course is one of the most scenic in the region: start and finish in the city center, between Corso Umberto I and Piazza XX Settembre, with a loop that touches the north and south seafront and the port area. Running Stracivitanova means experiencing the authentic face of a seaside city, cheered on by thousands of spectators along the streets.

Sport and Solidarity

The event has always combined sports activities with charitable work: part of the proceeds goes to the Telethon Foundation for research on rare genetic diseases, while collateral initiatives support local projects. Organized by A.S.D. Nuova Atletica Civitanova with the patronage of the Municipality, Stracivitanova is today one of the most participated road races in the Marche region, with thousands of registered participants and an economic impact that involves the entire city.

Stracivitanova — edition 2026

The 50th Stracivitanova, the half-century edition, recorded record numbers with approximately 4,000 participants. The 16th "Città di Civitanova Marche" Half Marathon was held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, starting at 9:30 AM from Corso Umberto I, accompanied by a week of celebratory events for the anniversary.

The 2026 edition celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of Stracivitanova with an edition described as record-breaking: approximately 4,000 participants over the three distances. The 16th "Città di Civitanova Marche" Half Marathon (21.097 km) was joined by the non-competitive 10 km and the 4 km Strafamily. A week of events preceded the race, including shows, meetings, and solidarity moments in support of the Telethon Foundation.
