The artisan chocolate festival in Piazza Cavour, Ancona
Every year, in November, Piazza Cavour in Ancona dresses in brown and delicious aromas to host Choco Marche, the fair dedicated to artisan chocolate. Promoted by Confartigianato Imprese Ancona-Pesaro e Urbino with the patronage of the Municipality of Ancona and the support of the Marche Chamber of Commerce, the event is now a classic of autumn in the capital of the 'dorico' city and one of the most important showcases for the region's master chocolatiers.
Choco Marche is not just a large chocolate market: it is a journey that intertwines taste, craftsmanship, and gastronomic culture. Along the stands set up in the square, you will find chocolatiers, pastry chefs, and producers of specialties presenting pralines, bars, decorative creations, and traditional Marche sweets, often combined with flavors and techniques from other culinary cultures. One of the event's characteristics, in fact, is the play of international fusions: each edition hosts chefs and cooks who reinterpret chocolate by blending it with ingredients and traditions from all over the world.
The program is designed to involve both adults and children. For the younger ones, numerous free educational workshops are set up, such as the chocolate school and sensory paths, where children learn about ingredients and the secrets of master pastry chefs. For adults, the core offering consists of show cooking with starred chefs, tasting lounges, and guided tastings led by food and wine professionals, often paired with wines from local wineries. There is no shortage of entertainment, such as circus performances that turn the square into a celebration for families.
Beyond the delicious aspect, Choco Marche is above all an opportunity to showcase the work of artisan workshops in Ancona, its province, and the entire Marche region. Year after year, the event confirms the vitality of a sector that combines ancient knowledge, quality raw materials, and the ability to innovate. Visiting Choco Marche means discovering local excellences, talking with those who create chocolate every day, and, of course, indulging in tastings and purchases.
After the success of the 2025 edition, Choco Marche returns to Piazza Cavour in Ancona from November 20th to 22nd, 2026 for its twenty-fifth edition. The event, organized by Confartigianato Imprese Ancona-Pesaro e Urbino, brings the grand showcase of Marche artisan chocolate back to the city center, with stands, workshops, show cooking, and tastings.
As per tradition, the event blends the taste of chocolate with the region's gastronomic culture and international influences, in a journey suitable for the whole family and with free admission.
The detailed program for the 25th edition (participating chocolatiers, schedule of show cooking, children's workshops, and guided tastings) will be announced by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event, around November 2026.
Based on recent editions, the usual structure includes:
