StraCasella is the running race that enlivens Casella every year, a municipality in Valle Scrivia within the Metropolitan City of Genoa. More than just a race: it's the moment when the town rallies around sport, with its central streets closed to traffic and transformed into a race course.
The course
The competition takes place on a city circuit of approximately 2.5 km to be repeated four times, for a total of ten kilometres. The start and finish are set on via Aldo Moro, while the route covers the main streets of the centre — via Fieschi, via alla Chiesa, via Liggia, via Pietro de Negri. StraCasella is part of the local running circuit and attracts runners from all over the province of Genoa.
Sport and conviviality
At the end of the race, athletes and companions gather in the green expo area of Casella for the traditional Pastaparty, a convivial moment that concludes the day of sharing. StraCasella is included among the Autentici Liguri events, the brand with which the Liguria Region promotes the most representative local festivals.
StraCasella — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of StraCasella is scheduled for September 6th, included in the calendar of Authentic Ligurian events. The race takes place on the usual 2.5 km city circuit to be repeated four times, with start and finish on via Aldo Moro. Afterwards, the concluding Pastaparty will be held in the green area of Casella.

How to get there
Casella is located in Valle Scrivia, behind Genoa. Besides by car (from the A7 motorway, Busalla exit), it can be reached by the charming Ferrovia Genova-Casella, a historic narrow-gauge railway line connecting the regional capital to the hinterland.
Registration
Participation in the race requires registration (for a fee) according to the running circuit regulations. Spectators can watch for free along the route.
