The race that brings Montignoso together

Stra-Montignoso is a charity running and walking event that winds through the territory of Montignoso, in the province of Massa-Carrara, at the northern tip of Tuscany, where the Apuan Alps meet the Versilia coast. Launched in 2024, the event has quickly established itself as one of the most cherished local sporting fixtures, bringing together competitive athletes, families, children, and casual walkers for a single, grand day of celebration.

A race for everyone

The heart of the event is the competitive 10km road race, a course with an elevation gain of approximately 218 meters that tests both legs and lungs while offering stunning views between the hills and the Apuan plains. Alongside the timed race, the recreational walk allows anyone to enjoy the route at their own pace, without the pressure of a stopwatch, in the company of friends and family. There is also a youth race specifically designed to introduce younger runners to the sport.

Sport for a good cause

Stra-Montignoso is deeply rooted in solidarity: previous editions have supported the Ospedale del Cuore di Monasterio, a center of medical excellence in Tuscany, turning a passion for running into a concrete gesture of support. In this way, sport becomes an opportunity for community gathering and social commitment.

Pasta party and dance night

The day doesn't end at the finish line or the awards ceremony: the pasta party brings athletes and walkers together around the table, while the open-air dance party gets the town moving under the stars, featuring music and entertainment from DJs and Radio Nostalgia, playing the greatest hits from the seventies to today.

Organization

The event is organized by A.S.D. Polisportiva Azzano in collaboration with Caffè Bonotti and under the patronage of the Municipality of Montignoso, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm that attracts hundreds of participants, from serious athletes to casual enthusiasts, every year. It is an event that captures the spirit of a community united by sport, music, and the joy of being together.
