SS. Trinità Festival – Cascinetta

A village festival in the heart of the upper Novara region

The SS. Trinità Festival is the most cherished event in the hamlet of Cascinetta, a small village within the municipality of Varallo Pombia, in the province of Novara, Piedmont. Located just a stone's throw from the Ticino River and Lake Maggiore, the community gathers every year in late May around the 17th-century Church of the Most Holy Trinity to celebrate its patronal feast, combining religious devotion with the joy of togetherness.

Faith and tradition: Mass and the procession

The spiritual heart of the festival is the Saturday Holy Mass, featuring the Dilexit choir from Castelletto sopra Ticino, followed by the traditional procession through the streets of the hamlet, accompanied by the "Angelo Broggio" Music Corps of Castelletto sopra Ticino. It is a moment of great participation, where residents and visitors from neighboring towns walk behind the statue through the streets of Cascinetta, in a ritual passed down through generations.

Conviviality: paella, lunches, and refreshments

Once the religious ceremonies conclude, the festival shifts to conviviality. On Saturday evening, the local Campetto hosts the famous paella dinner, a dish that has become a staple of the event. Sunday features a community lunch, with specialties like pesto pasta and amatriciana served outdoors. A bar service is available throughout the festival, serving as a meeting point for all ages.

Sports, motors, and entertainment

• Moto Tour: the Sunday motorcycle gathering, including a scenic ride and bike exhibition;
• Table tennis tournament, open to enthusiasts by reservation;
• Performance by the "I Brigliesciolte" country dancers, who liven up the afternoon with line dancing;
• Entertainment and activities designed for adults and children throughout the day.
