Two orange-hued days on the Roman coast, featuring deckchairs, sea, and aperitifs
There is a precise moment when the Roman summer is at its best: when the sun sets over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the aperitif hour begins along the coast. This is the moment that the Spritz Festival celebrates at the Marabù Beach Club in Ostia, on the promenade of the Municipio X of the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. For two days, the beach club at Piazzale Magellano transforms into the kingdom of Italy's most famous orange cocktail, with sea-view toasts, music, and a deliberately light and convivial atmosphere.
The event's mechanism is as essential as it is effective, explaining much of its success among Romans: admission is free and open to everyone; no ticket or reservation is required to join the party. Those who decide to spend the day at the beach and rent a deckchair receive a complimentary first Spritz, offered by Marabù Beach, to be enjoyed with feet in the sand. The rest is up to you: you can relax from morning to afternoon and stay until aperitif time, or simply arrive for the sunset.
Born in North-East Italy and having become the symbol of the national aperitif over the last twenty years, the Spritz is now part of the summer ritual on the Lazio coast as well. In Ostia — the historic beach of the Romans, reachable in half an hour from the capital's center — the aperitif on the shoreline is a well-established habit: you leave the office, take the train, and in no time you find yourself in front of the sea with a glass in hand. The Spritz Festival simply gives a formal shape to this custom, concentrating it into a themed weekend.
The event is not set up like a large music festival: it is more of an extended beach party, designed for a diverse audience of families, groups of friends, and couples. Those looking for a club night will find their space elsewhere; here, the focus is on a day at the beach that naturally slides into a party, with music that accompanies without overpowering, and the colors of the sunset over the coast as the true backdrop. The Marabù Beach Club is, after all, one of the most recognizable locations on the Roman coast, active throughout the season with programming ranging from apericinema under the stars to dance evenings.
A tip for those arriving from out of town: the Lido di Ostia is not just beach clubs. A few kilometers away is the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica, one of the best-preserved Roman sites in Italy, and in summer the area hosts a dense network of open-air events, from theater to film screenings. Combining a morning among the ruins of Rome's ancient port with an afternoon on the beach at the Spritz Festival is one of the best ways to experience a complete day on the Lazio coast.
The 2026 edition took place on Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th at the Marabù Beach Club, on the Ostia promenade in Rome's Municipio X. For two days, the beach club was tinged with orange, transforming — as the event's presentation stated — into the kingdom of the Spritz.
Access to the event was free and open to everyone, without tickets or advance booking. Those who chose to spend the day at the beach by renting a deckchair received a complimentary first Spritz, offered by Marabù Beach: sea-view toasts, feet in the sand, and the Lazio coast as a backdrop. The two days were accompanied by music and entertainment, with the usual crescendo towards the aperitif hour and the sunset over the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The event confirmed itself as one of the most frequented moments of the 2026 summer on the Roman coast, in a season that also saw apericinema under the stars and themed evenings at the Marabù.
The event did not release a detailed artistic lineup with DJ names: the program was built around the beach day and the aperitif, with music and entertainment spread throughout the two days.
By train: Roma-Lido (Metromare) railway line from Roma Porta San Paolo/Piramide, get off at Lido Centro or Cristoforo Colombo, a few minutes' walk from the beach. By car: via Cristoforo Colombo or via del Mare from the Grande Raccordo Anulare; on summer weekends, parking on the promenade is limited, so it is better to arrive early or use the train.
Admission to the event is free and open to all. Renting deckchairs and umbrellas and bar purchases are paid; those who rent a deckchair receive a complimentary Spritz.
Bring a hat and sunscreen for the daytime and a light sweatshirt for the evening, when the breeze picks up on the coast. To check updated dates and programs, it is best to consult the Marabù Beach Club's social media profiles before traveling.
