The Monti Lepini village awakens with vintage motors, local markets, and rustic flavors
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Spring Festival is the event with which Roccasecca dei Volsci, a village of just over a thousand inhabitants perched on Monte Curio in the province of Latina, bids farewell to winter. Organized by the local Pro Loco, the event takes place between the Carnival and the St. Joseph's Bonfire on one side and the major summer festivals on the other: it is the moment when the village comes back to life outdoors, following the cold months on the ridges that separate the Monti Lepini from the Monti Ausoni.
The most recognizable feature of the festival is the parade of vintage cars and Vespas that winds through the village and stops in the squares, turning the historic center into an open-air museum. The historic vehicles and scooters, polished for the occasion by their owners and the clubs participating in the gathering, are one of the reasons the day attracts visitors from the neighboring towns of the Amaseno valley and the Pontine hinterland.
Along the village streets, you will find exhibitions and markets dedicated to crafts and local products. It is the perfect opportunity to discover what the hills of Roccasecca dei Volsci have produced for centuries:
The soundtrack for the day is provided by live music and entertainment throughout the squares, while the most popular moment remains the communal lunch prepared with local products: shared tables, dishes from the rustic cuisine of the Lepini mountains, and that convivial atmosphere that characterizes festivals in small Lazio towns. It is not an event designed for mass tourism, but an authentic village celebration where visitors are simply welcomed to the tables alongside the residents.
The festival is also a great excuse to visit the village. Roccasecca dei Volsci preserves a medieval layout made of narrow alleys, arches, and stairways, overlooking the Amaseno valley and surrounded by forests of oak, chestnut, and elm trees. The village has also been highlighted by FAI initiatives dedicated to discovering the Monti Lepini and Ausoni, and it represents one of the gateways to an inland area of Lazio still largely untouched by tourist circuits, located just a short distance from Priverno, Sonnino, and the Fossanova Abbey.
The Spring Festival is part of an annual program that the Pro Loco carries out continuously, including the Carnival, the St. Joseph's Bonfire, the Corpus Domini Flower Festival, and above all the historic Goat Festival at the end of August, which has been running for over forty years, followed in September by the Caciottelle Festival. Those planning a trip to southern Lazio can therefore count on a rich calendar throughout the year.
The Spring Festival does not boast huge numbers or famous names, and that is precisely why it is interesting: it is a day when a small village shows itself without filters, amidst polished engines, stalls of genuine products, and a shared table. A simple and sincere experience, perfect for those looking for the Italy of small villages rather than the one on postcards.
For 2026, neither the dates nor the program for the Spring Festival in Roccasecca dei Volsci, in the province of Latina, have been published yet. The event is part of the regular calendar of the Pro Loco, which continues to organize and support events in the village โ as documented by local initiatives held in July 2026 โ but no official announcement regarding the spring festival has been released.
When the edition is announced, the elements that characterize the event are expected: the parade of vintage cars and Vespas, exhibitions and markets along the alleys, music in the squares, and the communal lunch with typical products of the Monti Lepini.
For updated information, it is best to contact the Pro Loco of Roccasecca dei Volsci directly or consult the Municipality's official portal.
Roccasecca dei Volsci can be reached by car from the Via Appia (SS7) by taking the exit toward Priverno and continuing along the provincial road that climbs toward the village; from Rome, take the A1 motorway to Frosinone or the SS148 Pontina to Latina. The nearest train station is Priverno-Fossanova, on the Rome-Naples line via Formia, a few kilometers from the village; from there, you can continue by taxi or car.
The historic center is pedestrianized and hilly, with narrow alleys and stairways: it is best to leave your car in the parking lots at the entrance to the village and continue on foot, wearing comfortable shoes.
Access to the festival, markets, and the vintage vehicle parade is generally free; the communal lunch and tastings are paid, with affordable prices.
Dates and programs are communicated by the Pro Loco of Roccasecca dei Volsci on their social media channels and by the Municipality, usually a few weeks before the event. It is recommended to check before traveling.
