About Special Basket
Basketball that Unites
In Lissone, in the Province of Monza and Brianza, the Sports Hall in Via Conti hosts Special Basket, a stage of the 5-a-side Unified basketball tournament by Special Olympics Italia. The Unified formula features mixed teams, composed of athletes with and without intellectual disabilities who play together, side-by-side, sharing the same passion for the game.
Sport and Inclusion
The idea behind the event is simple and powerful: sport as a universal language, capable of uniting different people and overcoming barriers. On the court, teamwork, participation, and fun are what count, in a climate of mutual respect that is the heart of the Special Olympics movement. For the public, it's an opportunity to discover an authentic and engaging dimension of sport.
A Day Open to All
The initiative takes place over an entire day and is free to enter, organized by Special Olympics Italia with the support of the Sports Services and the patronage of the Municipality of Lissone. Everyone is invited to participate or attend, helping to make the Sports Hall a place of celebration and inclusion.

The 2026 edition of Special Basket takes place on Sunday, April 19, from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, at the Sports Hall in Via Conti in Lissone. It is a stage of the 5-a-side Unified basketball tournament by Special Olympics Italia, with mixed teams composed of athletes with and without intellectual disabilities. The event is free to enter and is organized by Special Olympics Italia with the support of the Sports Services and the patronage of the Municipality of Lissone.
