The Festa della Contrada Spagna is part of the 'Aspettando il Palio' review, the series of festivals that, evening after evening, accompanies Garda towards the Palio delle Contrade on Ferragosto. Each historic district dedicates an evening to its identity, colours, and gastronomic specialities, building anticipation for the great bisse rowing race on August 15th.
The red-green district of the tench
The Contrada Spagna, with its red and green colours, has the tench as its symbol, a freshwater fish typical of Lake Garda. The festival celebrates this local product with traditional dishes, prepared with fresh and genuine ingredients that tell the story and culture of the Garda community. Live music, starting at 9:30 PM, accompanies the evening in a festive atmosphere.
Folklore and flavours on the lake
The festival is an authentic opportunity to immerse yourself in the folklore of Garda and discover its traditions. Amidst lake specialities, conviviality, and music, the Contrada Spagna evening reflects the most popular spirit of the Garda village, in the province of Verona, while awaiting the districts' competition on the water in the Palio rowing race.

How to get there
Garda is located on the Veronese side of Lake Garda. By car, it can be reached from the A4 motorway (Peschiera del Garda exit) or the A22 Brenner motorway (Affi exit). The nearest train station is Peschiera del Garda, connected to Garda by bus.
Participation
The festival takes place in the village spaces; food and drinks are charged according to the district's price list. Evening live music is free to access.
