About Sorelle Festival

Sorelle Festival is the traveling review dedicated to artistic languages, feminist culture, and practices of freedom that crosses Romagna every March. In Riolo Terme, in the Senio Valley in the province of Ravenna, the festival brings a collective exhibition of contemporary art to the Rocca and a stand-up comedy show to the Sala S. Ghinassi. A free event that combines exhibitions, talks, performances, and community moments around sisterhood and gender equality.

A widespread festival that celebrates sisterhood

Sorelle Festival is a traveling cultural review founded in 2020 and dedicated to artistic languages, feminist culture, and practices of freedom. Conceived and organized by the Associazione Culturale Fatti d'Arte Aps, every year the festival spreads throughout March across various municipalities in the Faenza Romagna area, including Riolo Terme, Faenza, Brisighella, Casola Valsenio, Castel Bolognese, Solarolo, Lugo, Fusignano, and Gambettola. It is one of the most established events in the region on the themes of gender equality and feminist memory.

The Riolo Terme stop

In the spa town of Riolo Terme, in the province of Ravenna and the heart of the Senio Valley, the festival finds two charming locations: the Rocca di Riolo, a 14th-century fortress overlooking the historic center, and the Sala S. Ghinassi. The Rocca hosts a collective exhibition of contemporary art, while the Sala Ghinassi hosts an evening performance. This offering combines visual arts with live comedy, two very different registers united by a female perspective and the desire to transform visibility into social change.

Between contemporary art and stand-up comedy

The Riolo program prioritizes dialogue between generations and languages: the exhibition at the Rocca brings together artists reflecting on identity and the body, while the evening at Sala Ghinassi features the sharp lightness of stand-up comedy. Alongside these events, the festival also presents the Archivio del Femminismo della Romagna (Romagna Feminism Archive), a participatory project collecting photographs, posters, magazines, and video stories to document the memory of feminist movements in the region.

A free and accessible event

Sorelle Festival offers over thirty free-entry events across all participating municipalities, with access methods indicated individually (free entry, reservation required, or in a few cases, ticketed). The association pays particular attention to the accessibility of its venues and welcomes specific requests via email. The Riolo Terme stop confirms the festival's widespread nature, capable of bringing art and reflection even to the smaller towns of Emilia-Romagna.

Sorelle Festival — edition 2026

The seventh edition of Sorelle Festival, with the slogan 'DIVE – Not out of vanity, but for truth,' brought a collective exhibition of contemporary art to the Rocca in Riolo Terme and a stand-up comedy show to the Sala S. Ghinassi. Two events at the heart of the widespread review that from March 1st to 29th, 2026, crossed the Faenza Romagna area with exhibitions, talks, workshops, and performances dedicated to sisterhood and gender equality.

The seventh edition of Sorelle Festival had the slogan 'DIVE – Not out of vanity, but for truth', dedicated to unconventional women who challenge dominant narratives with a feminist and intersectional perspective. In Riolo Terme (Ravenna), the festival offered two events: the exhibition DI-VERSE at the Rocca di Riolo and a stand-up comedy evening at the Sala S. Ghinassi. The Riolo events were part of the widespread program that animated the municipalities of the Faenza Romagna area throughout March.
