Soleto in Corsa is the running event that, year after year, draws runners and enthusiasts to the small village of Soleto, in the province of Lecce, in the heart of Grecìa Salentina. The event, also known as "Soleto in corsa… tra arte e natura" in partnership with the Trofeo Caffè degli Specchi, is organized by ASD Podistica Soletum in collaboration with the Soleto municipal administration, transforming the town center streets into a race course overlooking the village's most iconic monuments.

A route through the monuments of Soleto

Running in Soleto means crossing one of the most evocative villages in Salento. The track runs alongside the famous Guglia di Raimondello (or Orsinian Spire), a Gothic-Pugliese bell tower over forty meters high built in the late 14th century by Raimondello Orsini Del Balzo, and near the Church of Santo Stefano, a treasure trove of Byzantine frescoes. The Municipality of Soleto, a community of about 5,500 inhabitants, still preserves the tradition of Griko, the ancient language of Greek origin: the race thus becomes an opportunity to rediscover the cultural identity of the territory.

Competitive race and fun run for all

The format combines two spirits. On one hand, the competitive road race, valid for Salento running circuits and FIDAL provincial championships, which has offered varying distances across different editions (from the 10 km of the early years to the 11 km of 2026). On the other, a non-competitive recreational fun run, open to families, children, and enthusiasts of all ages, designed to experience the event in a participatory and convivial way. The meeting point, start, and awards ceremony are concentrated in the historic center, with the usual festive atmosphere that accompanies the morning or late afternoon race.

One of the hallmarks of Soleto in Corsa is its charitable vocation. In several editions, the proceeds from registrations have been donated to local solidarity projects, such as the "Bimbulanza" of the "Cuore e mani aperte" association, the pediatric ambulance that accompanies young patients from Salento to excellence care centers. Running in Soleto thus becomes a gesture that goes beyond competition, combining health, community, and care for others.
